even an onboard sound card never matches an external one, the mac onboard sound cards in the laptops outperform nearly any PC card available, in terms of latency and sound plus features, like digital I/O
An internal mac soundcard better than ANY pc card?
Dude, that's just plain old ignorance.
Just to bring you into the modern world:
mac and pc soundcards are technically the same, wether they are pci, pci-x, firewire or usb.
If the manufacturer has drivers for win and osx you can just switch the card between pc and mac.
Even worse, there are only a handful of ad\da chip manufacturers around,
so there is a pretty good chance that the macbook and dell have the same chips.
What's left is drivers and core audio versus directx.
Whatever technical superiority each os has, it's always up to the manaufacturer to write the drivers;
they are responsible for quality, features and latency.
If you just look around in the support forums you see plenty of mac users with latency issues.
I've used always both pc and mac, but frankly a mac is nowadays nothing more than a pc based on intel cpu's and chipsets.
The sad part is that those mac lovers are being f*cked up the *ss by being told that it's something special.
Leave the cool for the fool.
