How Do I Achieve "The Faint"-like Vocal Processing

Post by mattcellitti » Sat Sep 12, 2009 6:45 pm

Hey Everyone - I was hoping to get some insight into how Todd Fink does his vocal processing on The Faint albums? From what I can figure, it seems like it is heavily overdubbed, chorused, and short delays with small reverb rooms adding the ambience.

If anyone is capable of getting this type of sound, please share some thoughts. Even better, how bout some FX racks :) Plug-in suggestions also welcome.

Appreciate the help,

Matt

not as extreme as T-pain or lil Wayne, but I think it's a slight touch of autotune..

That all sounds correct. I think the key is a good overdubbing from start to finish, and then use the rest of what you mentioned for "spot" FX on top of that throughout the track.

Start someone who can sound like that is a good start:)
Rest sounds like fairly basic compression/eq/reverb/delay/panning.

Band aint normally my thing, but I do like that track - very remixable too :)
