That all sounds correct. I think the key is a good overdubbing from start to finish, and then use the rest of what you mentioned for "spot" FX on top of that throughout the track.From what I can figure, it seems like it is heavily overdubbed, chorused, and short delays with small reverb rooms adding the ambience.
