Oh sorry...I was under the impression that all or most people here have legit versions...I guess I was wrong.
Re: Being a snitch
Who was that in reference to? Besides ACID I think all or I guess I have to assume "most" have legit copies.daffy wrote:Oh sorry...I was under the impression that all or most people here have legit versions...I guess I was wrong.
It pisses me off too knowing that someone else, especially on these forums, is rocking a cracked copy meanwhile commenting it's because they can't afford expensive software, but yet somehow can afford an APC40 and other gear?
The more I think about it the more I get pissed.
@ACID
I don't own an APC40, but I'm not going to rip someone off just get it, even though I think it'd be completely fair to take yours off you.
and what kind of fucking user names himself ACID on an Ableton forum? Go find a Sony user group to annoy. Rip them off... I'm sure Sony has more money than Ableton (Disclaimer: Not that I'd condone such an action based on wealth... just saying... quit rippin off the company I'm expecting to provide great products and great support)

I think Robin Hood had the right idea, and thanks to technology anyone can be his/her own version. Make your own ideals. Something like a morality remix. Take what you like and leave the rest. Someone one was talking about enforcing all laws equally or whatever earlier too...
Law is not equal to justice, and everyones morality is relative. In short... 1 FOR CRACKING HERE!

That was me. And you're right. Just don't be surprised when someone comes along whose morals (or lack thereof) involve you losing something you want or need.q.musgrove wrote:I think Robin Hood had the right idea, and thanks to technology anyone can be his/her own version. As a counterpoint to your "take what you like and leave the rest," someone also once said "Kill what you want to, take what's left and eat it." I concur.

I hate when people try to justify what they do instead of just coming clean and saying it simply... "I'm a cheap fucking bastard that's too lazy to buy what others work hard to pay for" Give up this Robin Hood bullshit and show the world you got a pair. Come clean because you are in no way needy, just greedy.
Here's a helping hand..

See man! don't you feel better?
Re: Being a snitch
I really don't understand this at all... in a thread about snitching, q.musgrove and ACID end up snitching on themselves. Who needs snitches when you've got these two blindly announcing that they use cracked copies of Ableton Live, on the A B L E T O N forum?
Do I dare I question IQ levels in this conversation?
So who's next to announce to Ableton that they are stealing products from them too?

So in this logic then someone following you around with a video camera and taking photos of you jaywalking, or other minor crimes such as occasionally going 5 miles over the speed limit, smoking pot etc. well them turning this into the police is cool right? and of course the police should obviously do something about it because you broke these laws etc.stringtapper wrote: A "snitch" is simply someone who informs on another of something (usually a wrongdoing).
It seems clear that you think snitching on someone discriminating is helping someone, yet snitching on someone for stealing would somehow not be helping someone. Strange.
So either you don't think stealing is a crime or you just have relativistic beliefs when it comes to "wrongdoing."
Whatever works for you. But for me, either all laws should be upheld or none should be upheld. (And I mean none, as in things like murder and cannibalism should be ok.)
Just saying, the part in bold there, is total idiocy, and I do mean that with no malice. It's just really really bad logic. The law is ever shifting, and to constantly obey whatever is the law at the time is to have no free will at all IMO. I'm OK with cops being able to judge the level of 'crime' a jaywalker is committing, someone walking in front of a car that forces them to a stop, ticket them. Someone walking across the road when no cars are coming? leave them alone.
To a degree this applies to thieves, someone with a macbook pro pirating Live? hang em high. Someone with a crappy old computer using kracked stuff and keeping out of trouble? I just tell them to pay the software companies back with every dime they make off music when it starts bringing in money for them, if it does.
A snitch is IMO someone who rats on somebody who is down by law to begin with. A whistleblower might be a better term for say Pro Tools studios using kracked plug ins or a rich kid pirating Live. Though I fucking hate cops and would barely be able to bring myself to turn in even a murderer. I live by a simple rule, I do not do things to people I wouldn't want done to myself. I hate the attitude of kids who think if you're not pirating software then you're wasting money, but I have to admit that it gets old chasing upgrades to software you already bought.
OT, but I realize people need to eat etc. I just wish upgrades weren't so expensive, if I upgraded all my software that I own right now it would be well over $1300! This is the downfall to software in a way, the upgrade path.... complete and utter waste of money unless you're making a good amount off of it.

Burn the witch! Burn the witch!
C'mon guys. Don't be so sensitive. I actually bought mine so get off yer high horse there.
Everyone loses something they want in life! Does that make revenge admirable or something? Because you cry baby's are totally trying to hurt my feelings here because you ASSUME I have a cracked version of Live and you actually think that entitles you to be rude.
And what excatly do you lose (sans sleep obviously) when someone cracks any piece of software?

The logic is perfectly fine because I'm talking about the law in it's purest theoretical sense. Also notice how your point that the "The law is ever shifting, and to constantly obey whatever is the law at the time is to have no free will at all IMO," is really a good argument against governance in the first place. IMO, having any law at all is inherently contrary to free will.Machinesworking wrote:So in this logic then someone following you around with a video camera and taking photos of you jaywalking, or other minor crimes such as occasionally going 5 miles over the speed limit, smoking pot etc. well them turning this into the police is cool right? and of course the police should obviously do something about it because you broke these laws etc.stringtapper wrote: A "snitch" is simply someone who informs on another of something (usually a wrongdoing).

My point, again, is that those who would say that their crime doesn't matter are bound to have something they deem to be a crime happen to them. How will they feel when the perpetrator is as cavalier about their actions as they themselves have been? It's only to make people think about their actions and their attitudes, which I know is asking a lot of the general public.

And those who usually go around telling people "you'll get what you deserve" are bound to get what they deserve?
And how is that a save there elexicano? I'm still pro cracking. I think some people around here need to change their tampons. uh oh. I'll pay for that! right stringtapper?

Re: Being a snitch
However Machines, I think the topic of free will is vast and ripe and I'd love to delve in there with you but considering present company?.?.? Maybe a new thread? Well how about this.. You said to constantly obey it to sacrifice your free will but then isn't it a choice either way, to follow or not? At what point is your free will impeded upon? Some might say when your jailed... I could say if you are subjected to bombardment of the mind (advertisements, religious freaks, ::cough:self righteous consumers of certain computer software:: of which most have an agenda about forcing something in your mind to change or conform in one way or another) without permission (for example, turning on the t.v. or coming into a forum) it could be seen as a direct infringement on ones free will. Could you ever actually not have your free will? is it in the mind or actions?

To constantly obey the law^ sorry about that
