Q's about programming the BCR2000
Hey all. I hope to grab the attention of some experienced BCR2000 users.
There are some funny things about the BCR2000 that I can't seem to figure out.
For example, after mapping all the mixer channel faders to my BCR encoders, they work, but frequently they all return to 0, and I can't get them back to the correct values without clicking on the fader with my mouse and adjusting them so the MIDI signal will go back out to the BCR. Sometimes it happens when I load a new live set, or sometimes it happens randomly.
I've tried using the Ableton midi dump feature in preferences, and for some reason, I don't recall experiencing this problem. But I think ableton has some kind of midi defaults.
I need to have the BCR completely customized, but also receive the proper feedback from ableton to display the correct values on the encoders at all times.
Is there a MIDI implementation chart for Ableton?

this sounds like there is some confusion.
You mention "mapping all the channel faders", but you also mention using 'midi dump'
when you use 'midi dump' you are sending a preset to the BCR of a control surface layout - the one that is selected in the pulldown, it's hopefully titled BCR2000.
When you did that the volume faders will be auto-assigned to the bottom row of BCRdials (Live's fx sends are the next two up) . You can use the manual midi assign as well of course, but you specifically mention mapping volume, which is already mapped from the 'control surface'. So that indicates you are probably misunderstanding something.
I'm not sure that this would cause the faders to return to zero, but it certainly indicates that you have some confusion about how the assigning works, as volume is allready assigned from the 'control surface' pulldown.
As far as a "midi map", take a look at the 'lessons' from the help menu. There's a section about setting up controllers which you probably ought to check out. It explains the BCRmapping that ships with Live.
Also, once you have got your head around this - you can make your own 'control surface' mapping, which will appear in the pulldown. This involves a text file hidden in a magic folder. The Lessons will tell you more I think, or perhaps it's in the manual - I forget.

BCR 2000
I never used the dump feature, allways assigned everything with learn function, never had a problem.
It could be, that you might have a conflict somewhere, e.i. other midi controller assigned to same CC number. (Check it in assignments)
The BCR rotary moves the virtual rotary, no need for mouse, once you turn BCR it should move the ableton rotary/slider.

Familiarity Breeds Contempt
yeah, i found the magic folder with the midi maps in it. I guess I just need to back it up, and do some trial and error.
I've tried the MIDI dump from Ableton. I know about the bottom row of encoders on the BCR2000 defaulting to the first 8 channels of Live. It starts at Ch1 CC97 and goes to CC104. I can reassign the top row or encoders to those CC's, and it works good. Even switching them around, the BCR stays in conjunction with their order. And they seem to respond quite well and feedback properly. But I guess is only works for those first 8 channels. Which really is fine, because I usually run 8 buses for mixing. But I can't seem to get more of these types of controls that respond this way.
I guess I have to look further into what you were saying. I'm still a fairly new user to Ableton, and I'm always trying to squeeze in time to learn things and get them programmed exactly the way I need them.
I think my problem is that, I'm chronologically mapping my MIDI CC's from 1-127 in order on channel faders, pan, etc...

yeah, i came across this link in another post. I was gonna try to just use the BCR2000 and Ableton to set it up. I may end up using that.
