Is it just me or did navigating on Push 3 become harder instead of easier?

For instance, if I want a pad from Drift.

Old workflow (Pre Ableton 12)
In the old workflow you could navigate to Drift with the jogwheel and you would be presented with all categories (Bass, Brass, Guitar & Plucked, Pads etc), and after that a list of all presets.
With the jogwheel you click and choose Pads and then you'd have a filtered list. Which you could preview with the jog wheel.
If you want another category, bass for instance, you would click the jog wheel left once, select and click the bass category. All with a smooth motion of just the jog wheel.

New workflow (Ableton 12.1)
In the new workflow the categories are replaced by a filter menu. But there is no way to navigate there with the jogwheel. You'd have to open the filter menu with the 2nd upper display button, then navigate to the category 'sounds' with the 2nd encoder, then navigate to 'Pads' with the 3rd encoder. And then, don't forget to close the filter menu again with the 2nd upper display button because otherwise the filter menu takes up half the screen. Then you can go back to your jog wheel to navigate the presets.
If you want another category again, you'd have to open the filter menu agina with the 2nd upper display button, then navigate to the category 'sounds' with the 2nd encoder, then navigate to 'Bass' with the 3rd encoder. To get back to navigating the presets with the jogwheel again.

Navigating presets feels really cumbersome going from the jogwheel on the right to an upper display button, then to an encoder, the next encoder, then to the upper display button again before returning to the jogwheel again.

In the old navigation you could just do it all using the jogwheel in one smooth motion.

Fully agree, not to mention that a lot of times when you want to filter a category a lot of times the filter gets removed by mistake while browsing.

Looks like Push Browser isn't the much loved thing recently.

I truly agree with you. It's the main reason why I still didn't buy the upgrade kit for my Push 3.

I invite you to open a ticket via the Ableton support.

The more we complain about the Push 3 navigation (browsing, but also hot swapping which is broken..., etc.), the more they may hear us. There is a lot more to improve. In addition to what you mentioned, we might ask to customize the root browser screen (hide "Plugins" for example). It's just an example among many others.

Thanks for the confirmations it's not just me. I am using Note on the iPad a lot lately and making music and navigating feels smooth and natural. Then I use my Push again and it doesn't. I even contemplated selling my Push and get a Move instead. But then again, there are some parts of Push I really love.
I would really like Push to be a simple instrument, where i can start a making some music and be in the flow of making music.
I do not expect it do have the same options and power Live has on my computer. When it's time to progress or finish a track I move over to Live and finish there.

Thanks for the suggestion of opening a ticket, I have opened one in Centercode, if anyone likes to vote:

I found an inconsitency that might be usefull.
When you follow this path, there are no categories:
Midi track > Instruments > Drift > (a list of all drift presets)

But when you follow this path, you do have a list of categories.
Midi track > Collections > Favorites > Drift > (a list of categories, bass, Brass, Pads etc)
I suspect they are core presets only though.

I have rearranged my Collections, inspired by Note. On note you get 3 presets when you start a new track. A drum kit, a Bass sound and some kind of keys sound (pad, lead, string, stab, whatever).

I have rearranged my Collections like this:
- Favorites (Favorite kits I can use over and over again, 808, 909 etc and synths; Drift, Wavetable etc)
- Drum kits (drum kits that I like / are usefull)
- Keys (pad, lead, string, stabs etc I like)
- Bass (bass sounds that I like)

I'm in the process of going through the kits, presets and sounds in my library and putting everything I like in these categories. I'm not even finished, but already noticed this is a system that works for me.

In the process I noticed the inconsistency that does show the preset categories.

Anyway, do with it what you like, it seems to work for me, so I thought I would share.

@Mister Ries I've done something similar, but there's a bug that makes hot-swapping with collections extremely frustrating. It will let you hot swap a few, but then suddenly it will kick you out of the collections view and into the instrument view.

I posted about this bug here: viewtopic.php?t=253065.

I posted the steps to reproduce the hot swap bugs in this thread:
viewtopic.php?t=252838

Basically the issue is when using filters with hot swap in Live in general. It happens on successive hot swap attempts after changing the filter during the session. For instance, you filter search and load, hot swap, filter for a different sound, load then hot swap again.

On top of that, there is an issue with the hots swapping individual pads of a drum rack when it was the whole drum rack that you initially loaded. In this case it will not locate to the folder/file of the sample on the pad. This issue is specific to Push.

Also, packs seem to kick you back out to the root of the pack when using filters after you load.
