Help starting up

Post by aaron d » Sat Jun 16, 2007 7:37 pm

Hi everyone

Just installed Ableton and i'm really new to it all and only know basic computer stuff

I can't seem to play my music files throught Ableton but can play loops and samples ok.

Is there anything I need to know before the files will play?

Thanks

if you are using i tunes and you mean when you click on a folder theres nothing there
they are purchased & as such are protected files i use my copy disc and copy to desk top then import to arrangement view then collect & save to self contain the resulting set you have to be a bit patient when loading as they have to do a file analysis 1st (a fellow noob)

We only have Ableton 6 on the laptop

There is the error message:

An error occured while reading

"C\users\publicmasters\samplemusic\1stepbeyond.wma."

Apparently the document was created by a more recent and more compatible version of live than this.

(Unknown compound stream type)

Hello,

Live can't play WMA files. You should convert it to Wav in an audio editor, or Windows Media Player.

Also note that if you are using a "Lite" version of Ableton, you will not be able to bring in MP3s. Those tracks will need to be converted to either WAV or AIFF before they can be used.
