I have EVENT ASP8s

I love them more than life itself. Crystal clear stereo image, punchy mids, accurate but smooth highs and earthshaking bass response (down to about 35hz!).

I think they've been discontinued now, but I really rate Event. Worth taking a look at their newer products, I reckon

It was a joke.

But a lot of the presets in the Library ensembles have that Telefon Tel Aviv fell, IMO.

The Ampeg SVX is awesome. I use it all the time. A mate of mine (session bassist with Amy Winehouse, Wu-Tang Clan, TV On The Radio, Antibalas) has the real thing and the plugin. He was disgusted by how good the plugin is. If you're a serious bassist, look no further.

I often choose which key to write in based where I want my bass frequencies - ie my kick and bass sounds. Different bass patches and kicks sound good at different frequencies (ie. in different keys). For example I have one favourite bass sound that sounds wicked on notes D1-A1, but rubbish ...

yeah - the virus Ti has a noise oscillator. So it will make a swoosh. :roll:

But you could just save yourself £1500 and use a free synth with a noise oscillator.

any synth with a noise oscillator. Just dial in some white noise and whack a bandpass/lowpass filter on it, then play with the cutoff - sweep it from low to high for a buildup. Maybe add another oscillator (saw wave?), sweep the pitch along with the noise filter sweep then put some chorus/flanger ...

I use third party plugs to make my dub bass - usually absynth/FM8 (FM synthesis anyway), then I put them through the Ampeg SVX bass amp plug, then I do some serious eqing - Eqing is most important cos 1) you don't want TOO much sub and 2) you want to get rid of any unwanted harmonics in the higher ...

Used Live plus NI, Rob Papen, CamelAudio & Sonalksis plugs for a while... wrote everything in Live from start to finish... Have to say I'm not a fan of Live's FX - except phaser and autofiler, which are ok

This won't help with basslines but i love dub and thought i'd mention dubstation by audiodamage.Simply the best dub delay i've ever used.

I take it you haven't tried UAD's Space Echo then? Eats the dubstation for breakfast.

Yeah - speaking as a Reaktor head, the more modular the better... Its important not to over-complicate things with Live though - one of its main selling points is its ease of use...
