Can't MIDI control while running other DAW
Hi there. I have Reason rewired into a basic recording DAW. I also have a crappy DAW called Renoise rewired into that recording DAW. I can midi control both Reason and Renoise simultaneously. The problem arises when l open Ableton, which is not for rewiring. I open it as an independent DAW and none ...

Re: Overlapping MIDI Controls
... Thanks for your reply buddy, see below: You know, l actually finally managed to alter the MIDI channel on my Akai MIDIMix via the Akai MIDIMix editor software provided by the manufacturer. I managed to set it to MIDI channel 2. And yep, it worked , no more MIDI controller overlap. BUT WAIT. Sti...

Re: Overlapping MIDI Controls
i'm not twisting what you've said. you didn't know that changing the MIDI channels would help, and you didn't know that you could do that with your controller. because you didn't know those things, you mapped things in an unhelpful way in Live. then you complained that Live didn't automagically fix...

Re: Overlapping MIDI Controls
the Akai site is currently down, but the Sound on Sound review says that you can change the MIDI channels: http://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/akai-midimix btw, i dunno why you are ranting at Ableton. it's not their fault if you don't yet know how things work. Don't twist what l'm saying. Please re...

Re: Overlapping MIDI Controls
If they don't have an editor to allow what Tarekith is selecting then something like BOMES MIDI Translator will do the trick... Cheers D Thanks. But l cannot afford anything like that, and l don't see why l should be adding even more kit to my rig. This issue should not be happening to begin with.

Re: Overlapping MIDI Controls
If both midi controllers are transmitting on the same midi channel, this will happen no matter what DAW you use. Can you change the MIDI channel of one of your controllers? Hi there, I can confirm that this does not happen with Propellerheads Reason, and as far as l'm aware, nor with Reaper etc. No...

Overlapping MIDI Controls
I'm on Ableton Live 8. Check out this overlapping mapping issue (click on the image to further enlarge it): http://picpaste.com/insane_mapping_issue.png Different controllers are mapping different features on Ableton, but it appears that a dial on one controller has the same CC number as a slider on...

And Acid Pro.H20nly wrote:well there's your answer... only DAWs whose name start with R can Rewire as slaves.
Btw l'm offering scrap prices on any Ableton Push units nobody needs anymore.
£80 per tonne.

Re: Push support in Rewire mode
Other DAWs can be MIDI controlled in ReWire slave mode, so why not Ableton? I see you necrobumping these old threads to "air grievances"... what other DAWs are you talking about that can do this? I Googled this topic and decided to latch on to existing calls for MIDI control when in ReWir...

Re: Push in rewire-slave mode
Sorry Ableton, l LOVE your POLITE and HELPFUL customer service. I love that l have barely scratched the surface of your software in all these years, it's so feature packed. But because you cannot do something as basic as MIDI control while in ReWire Slave mode (every other DAW l've used can), l'm so...

Re: Push support in Rewire mode
Other DAWs can be MIDI controlled in ReWire slave mode, so why not Ableton? The objections to it in this thread make no sense at all, and just assume that every Live user has the workflow that you expect of them. What if l want to tweak Live while recording, via ReWire, into another DAW? What ... l ...

MIDI assign while Ableton is ReWire Slave?
Hi, l know how to assign MIDI controls while Ableton is on its own. However, l cannot seem to find a way to assign MIDI controls to Ableton while Ableton is a ReWire Slave (FYI, the ReWire host is Reaper). I've tried assigning the controls while Ableton is alone, and then loading the ReWire setup, a...

Headphone Cue when Ableton is a ReWire Slave
Hi, l cannot enable Headphone Cue while Ableton is a ReWire slave, with Reaper as the host. The little icon that toggles between "Cue" and "Solo" above the Cue dial on the Master channel ... does not exist when in ReWire Slave mode. I have briefly searched Google and YouTube but ...

How to make 2 diff. rewire Slaves have 2 diff. tempos?
Hi, Ableton is rewire host / rewire master. I can rewire 2 different DAWs as rewire Slaves, into Ableton. How can l make those 2 rewire Slaves have tempos independent of each other and independent of Ableton? And how can l make their "play" buttons independent of each other and independent...
