Automation Issues
What's going on here? I created automation for a sample in a MIDI clip modifying the decay time of the global volume over time, but then I made an adjustment to the sustain (not through automation, simply through the sampler). Now the automation is not being performed, and the section for decay time ...

No Dropping Samples Folder?
Hey, I have Ableton Live 8 and I've been wanting to make a Drum Rack default that has a Simpler volume of 0 instead of -12. I've read tutorials on how to do it, but my problem is I don't have a "Dropping Samples" folder in my Library! I don't know if I accidently deleted it at some point or what. I ...

Re: Ableton + Maschine + Google Plus
Sounds rad, I'd love to be able to share thoughts/problems about Ableton as they pop in my head from my mobile. Hit me up at [email protected] if you have any invites left for the whole Google Plus thing.

Someone Explain Phaser to Me
Okay, so I'm familiar with the basic concepts of phasing and the sounds that slight phase offsets create, as well as the fact that a 180 degree offset will make two identical sounds cancel each other out. But when it comes to Ableton's Phaser effect, I'm a bit lost. I know I can automate it and make ...

Re: Macbook Pros
Thanks for the link. From what I can tell, it is a relatively neutral time to buy since we are in the middle of a product cycle. What I can't find the answer to, though, is when all of the impressive specs stop being useful for my purposes. That's what I want to know... I'm more than willing to drop ...

Macbook Pros
So I'm looking to upgrade my current laptop setup to a new mbp. I'm willing to spend up to 2200, but I just want to know when the tech upgrades start providing diminishing returns. I definitely want CPU power, but I'm doing mostly bedroom production stuff -- a few midi devices, maybe a guitar/amp ...

Re: Multi-Sampling Workflow
Thanks, man! That little button totally slipped past me. One final question: is there a quick way to distribute samples across the keyboard by 1 key? For example, if I have 7 samples and want them to be distributed from C-F#, is there a shortcut to doing that, or do I have to draw everything in on ...

Re: Multi-Sampling Workflow
Okay, I think I just answered my own question. I set the scale value to 0%. However, I've got some Oscillator features on my samples, and it sounds like the oscillator is still being modified as I change keys! Is this an unavoidable glitch, or is there something I can do about that?

Multi-Sampling Workflow
Let's say I have 7 samples, each a different note/sound, and I want to add the same Sampler parameters to each of them. My natural inclination is to create a multi-sampler Sampler instrument. I would do a drum rack, but the "Copy to Siblings" workflow doesn't work for things like LFOs and envelope ...

MIDI Clips in Arrange View
Is there any way, other than dragging midi clips from session view or pressing the "record" button in arrangement view, to create a MIDI clip in arrangement view? There doesn't seem to be a simple "Create MIDI clip" option like there is in session view.

Re: M-Audio Key Rig 49
Yeah, I read something about the knob clicking shit, which sounds stupid. I assume there would be a way to give each individual knob a different value per turn though? For instance, keeping something like oscillator volume at the default settings since micro-adjustments would be preferable, and ...

M-Audio Key Rig 49
Hey all, I'm on kind of a budget setup right now for my electronic music making. I've been using nothing more than a drum pad device and using my comp. keyboard/drawing arrangements in MIDI clips for the more complex arrangements. I'm looking to streamline my creative workflow, however, with a nice ...

wtf is up with MIDI velocity
Okay, so naturally I want all of my drums to respond to velocity, whether it's drawn in or physically expressed on my MIDI instruments. However, by default the velocity settings on every drum rack simpler are 0%. Moreover, when I change the velocity to 100%, the simpler device nearly doubles in ...
