Re: IK Multimedia + Ableton Live = Crashfest..
I switched from PC to Mac this year and it's been mostly a great experience, but the crashes with IK Multimedia plugins have gotten so bad I can hardly use them in Live. I have gotten to really appreciate Live's great crash recovery though, and at least I rarely lose work, just a lot of frustration ...

Re: IK Multimedia's Sonik Synth 2 Crashes Live
Hi Migra. This is *still* happening by the way. Are you on PC or Mac? I didn't have this problem back when I was using Live on a PC, but now on Mac, Live crashes every single time I exit if I'm using Sonic Synth 2 (and crashes too frequently to be very usable with most IK plugs) I'm kind of having ...

Re: From Logic to Ableton
I moved to Live from Logic after Apple bought them. I miss some of the deep features of Logic (i.e., select all MIDI notes below a certain duration AND a certain velocity) but I find Live to be a much more intuitive and facile interface to work in.

Re: help from any Logic/Pro Tools and Ableton users out there??
I've been using Ableton Live since version 5, shortly after eMagic was purchased by Apple and Logic would no longer be updated on the PC. I had previously used Logic all the way back to when it was called Notator on my Atari 1040 ST. I also use Pro Tools and Nuendo in my work environment.

Re: Migrating from Windows to Mac
Hey y'all, thanks for the great responses. I feel much better about the move to Mac (and I was already feeling pretty good about it).

Migrating from Windows to Mac
I'm taking the plunge and finally moving over to Mac for my music and audio work. Is there an easy way to get all of the Ableton instruments and 3rd party ".alps" over and set up on the Mac? I usually just copy my whole Ableton library over when migrating between PCs; then do a "repair library" if ...

Re: Crashes on Win7 64bit when working VSTs in Live?
Thanks, EW. Yeah, already turned off UAC, I have my Live shortcut set to always run as administrator and plugins are at C:\VstPlugins.
I did notice in the VST report list that there have been a number of issues with Waves and IKMultimedia plugins, they may have some part in it as well.

Crashes on Win7 64bit when working VSTs in Live?
My initial experience with Live on 64bit was fine, so I upgraded my laptop as well, but now I find I'm having multiple daily crashes in Live when working with 3rd-party VSTs, and especially Native Instruments. I'm having to be far more 'efficient' in setting up my sessions than I ever was in XP to ...

How do I preview midi loops with Session Drums?
I'd like to be able to preview drum loops and grooves and hear them on the currently selected Session Drums rack, rather than the default preview midi voice I'm hearing? What am I doing wrong here? I hope I don't have to actually load the whole midi clip to hear it played with the drum voices. Any ...

Re: Will IK Multimedia´s T-Racks3 group buy hit the 1000 mark?
I have the full T-Racks 3 set (I got it on a different promtion a while back) and use some of the plug-ins a lot, even though I also have Waves Diamond. That said, the IK Multimedia amp simulators are the best out there, imho. I have GTR and Guitar Rig, but the Amplitube series are the plug-ins I ...

They're a little more than you're looking to spend, but Dynaudio BM5As are really great monitors, very trustworthy, highly recommended. I find headphones utterly deceptive for mixing...

I've got a ProFire 2626 as well. I love it; latency is decent, the virtual mixer is really useful.

Beat Detective-ish feature
I'd really like to be able to record a live band with their natural feel and tempo (or more accurately, tempi), but then be able to get the tracks aligned to a bar/beat grid with the tempo indicator being updated accordingly. it takes some work, but you can do this in Pro Tools with their Beat ...

Re: surroundsound
Yes, Live is going to have to get 5.1/7.1 capability soon. One of our sound designers at my company was considering moving to Live but had to pass due to the lack of support for this.

Re: score editor!
+1
$50 Guitar Pro has a score editor implemented - I started using Notator on the Atari before it became Logic and the score editor was great waaay back then. This shouldn't be that hard to do, and I would find it extremely useful.
