I know this can be done as ill.Gates' APC40 template does this. How can you midi map something to wear when you change the value of something (lets say an EQ or a beat repeat) it automatically goes to that window or panel and it will show you the effect being changed?

After I am done recording a song and it is all arranged in clip view, sometimes I want to record a midi event on top of it while it is playing, and other times I do not, I just want to play the effect in real time without recording it. I've done both, I'm just not 100% sure on how I did.

I had a FireWire solo, it sounded alright, but it did what I wanted it to. I think the worst thing about it was the lack of MIDI in/out.

The SM58 will cut out some of your highs and also lead to a lot of your personality and tonal inflections getting lost in the mix. Upgrade to a large diaphragm condenser and you'll be surprised on how much better it sounds.

One question is: what about hotswapping in presets in between scenes? In between each song, do you simply load the values in of each instrument of the next track your going to be working with?

You can either get a firewire interface or USB interface, although firewire provides less latency.
