The Sound on Sound review is very positive ... and that is at the original (much higher) price. However, I read elsewhere that it is not so good for field recordings due to handling noise. Anyone got one?

Thanks for the replies. I think part of the cause may be starting iTunes without the drive attached that has the library. In the past, I'm sure these would just show as 'ghost' files that wouldn't play. Now they seem to have grabbed random files from my MBP hard-drive, and when the external drive is ...

Very interesting. I didn't know about the Seagate - I thought it was just between the Hitachi and the WD Scorpio Black. How's the Seagate going? Any problems? Heat? Noise?
