Okay here's another idea which is basically a simplified version of what I posted before.

* get a 1- or 2-bar loop going, with five elements - drums, percussion, bass, lead, pad
* run the individual loops through fx, modulating and recording to get lots of weird sounds
* once you've got your sounds ...

* what advantage does dragging your clips into the User Library have? I've never done this before, and would have thought that just saving your clips into Session View achieved much the same result.

I installed it from CD and don't know where any of the instruments are. I thought it would show up in the library but I don't see anything new about essential instruments collection. I was hoping to use this for strings and horns. Where can I find those?

I want to create what the Live manual calls a "preset bank" - an instrument Rack with a bunch of chains, where I can scroll through each chain using the chain select mapped to a controller knob. What I'd like to do is select all of the kick presets under Live Devices->Drum Rack->Kick and drop them ...

I went through the audio setup & driver error compensation lessons in ableton live 8.1.1. The values came out to

Turns out EIC is not exclusive to the suite, but rather is part of the boxed set (basic live and suite).

I've demo'd suite some. Wasn't drawn in enough that I want to plunk down the cash for it. Reason rewired to Live works great, and there's plenty for me to learn & play with still.

So re: Live 8 suite...it comes with all the software instruments, and the boxed version includes EIC & session drums. Are EIC & session drums just big ass sample libraries? So basically suite boxed is a bunch of software instruments, and a big sample library. Is that accurate? What ...

oh one thing I've considered is just going with Live 8 and using the saved money to get Recycle. But I'm wondering if Live's slice-to-midi feature make Recycle less valuable?
