Re: What MacBook should I buy for Ableton?

It doesn't matter. I still have an M1 Mac laptop and it runs Ableton perfectly and I have yet to hit a practical limit with it. I use Windows, Linux and Mac for audio production. The M series Macs all work fine. The M1s still run Ableton perfectly if you want to get a used cheaper Mac. The ...

Re: Ableton Live 12 Windows 11 notebook hardware recommendations

Lenovo Legion laptops work incredibly well for audio and Ableton. If you are going to go the PC/Windows route, consider buying a gaming PC because they have higher end processors, GPUs and better audio components. They work really well for audio production. I have run multiple different brands of ...

Re: So... Live on Linux?

Bitwig which is primarily built on the same platform and tools Ableton uses (Bitwig are former Ableton developers) have successfully created a Linux version which works amazingly well. Bitwig uses the same GUI model and controls as Ableton with a different look and the backend code is very similar ...

Re: So... Live on Linux?

And I am also assuming Steam is investing millions into Proton which allows users to play Windows games on the Linux desktop because there is no market there right? They are just developing Steam/Proton for Linux and releasing their own Steam Linux distribution because there is absolutely no market ...

Re: So... Live on Linux?

Yes, us Linux users are a myth. This is why Linux desktop adoption increase 240% this past year, Windows 11 marketshare is declining and Windows 7 went up 5% because people don't want a bloated OS that steals your data, shows nonstop ads and tries to upsell you Microsoft services on your desktop ...

Re: Linux?

Uhh - don't quite understand your reply. I look up solutions to issues all the time online. AI is great at providing solutions to many Linux issues. There is a larger support and user base with Linux than any other OS.

Re: So... Live on Linux?

Yea, I don't agree with this. Most all interfaces work fine. I have an SSL 12 and it works perfect. If Ableton were released for Linux, you would see most manufacturers start to release drivers due to demand. Ableton on Linux is inevitable at this point. It's just a matter of how long the company ...

Re: So... Live on Linux?

Ableton is the only reason I still maintain a dual boot config. The only app I have to run on Windows at this point.

Please just release a Linux version at this point.

Re: Linux?

Completely agree! I recently switched off Windows after two reinstalls and constant crashing. I have to maintain a dual boot config just to run Ableton. Ableton is the only app I cannot run in Linux at this point. With Steam support, the marketshare is going to explode. Bazzite which is a super ...

Please Create A LInux Version

Quite a few of us are simply maintaining a Windows partition or dual boot simply to run Ableton. Wine doesn't work well and it does run under a virtual machine but it's not ideal. My laptop has a dual boot setup and Ableton is the only application I cannot run natively under Linux at this point. The ...

Moving Clips Puts Them Out of Sync

I am having a new issue where moving my recorded vocal clips puts the clip out of sync. For example, if I record a vocal on a track, it is perfectly in sync when it's recorded and played back. However, if I try moving that clip around on the same track or a new track, the timing of it is off. It ...

MAC OS v Windows XP

I have a Macbook Pro and have been running Ableton 6 under Windows XP. I dont use MAC OS X much since it seems pretty hard to find VSTS that run in the MAC OS.

From people who have run both Windows and MAC, is there a big difference with Ableton running either under Windows XP or MAC OS or is the ...
