I'm in St Andrews. Using Live 3/Powerbook setup, mainly for theatre and film work, but also for some DJing and putting together pure instrumental tracks for a CD at the moment.
Have worked in music tech (mainly in San Francisco in the 90s). Doing a PhD now. Would be interested in colloborations and ...

theatre cues
i've been using live extensively in theatre work, both to sequence music and cues, and also for the performance itself.
you can set up each cue to trigger from the keyboard, or use combinations of cues by using scenes. either way, this allows you to work with very flexible timing and volume in ...

cool beat syncing
i haven't ever mixed with cd decks, but one thing i've been getting live to do pretty sweetly recently is to deliberately tweak warp markers so that two or three tracks kick drums phase slightly. it reproduces the old vinyl trick which was always really tricky to pull off consistently. that's the ...

Live as main gear
live is completely capable of being your only sequencing environment, but it requires you to think differently about the musical components that you're putting together, since you can't "program" sequences. instead you have to start listening to the audio that each clip contains and tweak each part ...

Numerology
i've been playing around with numerology, but so far only to generate some clip audio to tweak in live. will get around to sync-ing when i have more time to spend.
numerology seems like a good compliment, since it can generate unusual stuff. i'm not into the usual sequencing gear, since i'm trying ...

DJ Forum? ...of course
Live is without a doubt the most interesting tool for those of us who have always seen DJing/collage as a radical part of serious music composition, and not simply "entertainment".
A DJ forum is an excellent idea...as long as it doesn't descend into genre wars!
