label

ok good to know that you can do it yourself through paypal and a website. but how can we sell our stuff on the bigger download sites like beatport? it seems like it should be easy. all you should have to do is call yourself a label, send them the song, and have them put it up for sale. it must be ha...

if live doesnt dither, then how does it downconvert the sample rate from 24 bits per sample to 16 bits per sample. it would have to dither, or do something like truncate the excess data down to make 16 bits. there's no other way. i would like the option to turn off all sample rate choices when rende...

so would it be a waste of time to just send out a song to many labels, hoping that one picks it up? do we need to know someone within that label in hopes of having a chance?

When you guys say "networking," i think of schmoozing in some night club or at some dinner party. Getting to know a guy who knows a guy. Networking has always, for me, meant starting close relationships locally, and eventually branching out. Or are you referring to sending letters and tracks out to ...

Market Yourself Effectively

This thread is kind of a spin off of the "ableton saturating the market" thread, but i didnt want to hijack that thread and change the topic, so here it is. One of the answers to the recent abundance of producers was to market yourself and your music effectively. But how can we do this? How can we s...

yeah its true..i find myself ripping off underworld every chance i get, but this is almost the exact bassline of a famous group. i would be fine with it if the song wasnt well known, or i thought i might be able to make a song that was better, but that song is a classic. i just dont want people goin...

repeating other artists

i am making a song and a baseline i think naturally presented itself with the key that the song is in. i am sure most of you have just come across something that "works" the problem is, someones already done that baseline (the same chords progressions), and used it in a classic electronica song. is ...

hey adam jay...i have a 909, which i believe can do the 808 style kick. does the 808 kick have a slightly longer attack time, to give that duller lump sound? there's no eqing involved? i would think you would want to round off the highs to get rid of the pop associated with the 909, leaving only the...
