by [jur] » Wed Mar 25, 2026 2:08 am Do you really need your clip(s) to be triggered from an audio input? Follow Actions are not an option?
My idea was that a clip on one track would be triggered by the detected presence of output from a different track -- can Follow Actions do that?
I like ...

Re: Can Audio From A Track Trigger A Clip On Another Track?
I would look at repurposing the Envelope Follower device in the first instance.
Best regards
Darren
Indeed, I was considering some quite like an envelope follower -- with adjustable threshold, etc. that could control what kind of output could launch the clip.
I just wasn't quite sure how to ...

Thank you!
I'm far from adept at M4L -- this might be a way to get more familiar with it.
I'm aware that some of the easiest things to imagine are often the most difficult to ultimately realize but... well, "dream big," I guess!

Can Audio From A Track Trigger A Clip On Another Track?
Hey
Wondering if audio output from a track can be detected by, and trigger a clip (or clips) on a different track.
Thanks!

Slow page load is very frustrating.
Faster would be nice.
Much. Faster.
The painfully slow page load is still better than waiting for answers from Ableton tech support of course, but even so.
Painful.

Update:
- Now it is working.
- I do not know how I managed this -- it simply happened.
- I apologize that I cannot offer more helpful information to others with the same difficulty.

Re: Chain Select Doesn't Control Sequencer "Device On/Off" As Expected
It is working -- thank you so much, @Rivanni!
I never stopped to think that restricting the range of the macro to the chains currently instantiated (which is something I do quite commonly in other situations) will compress the function of the Macro as well.

Request For Assistance: Configure Live Inputs to Address ADAT Channels
Hello!
I want to ask Live to see audio coming in from an external device delivering 8 channels of audio via ADAT, but I can't seem to get more than the first two channels into Live. I hope someone can elaborate!

Primary DAC is Universal Apollo X6. (It's working as expected for general ...

Chain Select Doesn't Control Sequencer "Device On/Off" As Expected
Here's one to ponder:
In the section of the Live manual called Using the chain selector in a Rack there's a suggestion that DEVICE ON/OFF can be assigned to a Chain Select-mapped macro in order to conserve resources. Devices in any chain other than the currently-active one are actually switched off ...

Metronome Wish-List Item: "Countoff-only" Option
Hello!
Today's episode of Adventures In Click has prompted me to post this wish-list item:
Would we just love to see a metronome "Always Click / Click On Count Only" option?
I guess the latter would be dependent upon the currently-defined punch-in range, where the metronome would sound from play ...

It is possible -- although not the way i would have imagined, nor by the most desirable means. But, in the end, i have what i needed: I can adjust levels in cans without touching Main Mix fader positions and i can hear the click counting in as well.

Click in Cue?
Hello!
I want to configure a set to have a secondary Cue mix, so that I don't have to alter my precious fader positions in order to hear a different balance just on overdubs.
I can set up a send to direct audio to a separate return channel with a destination other than Main Out -- but how can I ...

Re: Live 12.3 - Feedback ?
Hello!
With 12.3.1. in as of last night I'm noticing some "unexpected result" situations, but haven't had the time to document them rigorously.
In (very) brief:
- Hot-Swap is confused again. After successfully resolving Hot Swaps erratic "device type" recognition behavior in 12.2.5, the confusion ...
