I don't see any randomness when I record a midi loop from an external sequencer.
I suggest you all try that instead of playing by hand.. or perhaps describe the bugs in more detail.

While recording Midi in Arranger View in Live 4.0.4, zooming in/out of the unfolded track results in a big purple bar camouflaging newly played notes.

Ofcourse you have to press record, play your stuff, stop recording and correct what you play? Ain't that always the case?
You can see tiny notes played in the Track Display.

Record Quantization is set in the Edit/Record Quantization menu.
Loop recording only happens when Loop Switch is set ...

I'm unable to reproduce your bug:
-I start Live
-Change the Arrangement Start Marker
-Save the song
-Change the Arrangement Start Marker
-Save the song

Then the Arrangement Start Marker doesn't change positions.
The saved set also remembers the Arrangement Start Marker correctly.

I don't think it's the 4.0.4 version but normal Warp Mode behaviour.
When you timestretch a clip with Texture Warp Mode by slowing down the Project Tempo the result is not reproducable.
For example in Lesson 1:
Slow down Project Tempo to 60.
Record Track 3 Rhodes on a new track.
Stop playback and ...

-Start Ableton 4.0.3.
-In Preferences: put Loop/warp on Unwarped one shot.
-Use a fresh (.asd absent) short sample of which the length (or bpm) does not match exactly with global bpm.

A consequence of the bugfix is that the Reaktor VSTi in-port works properly now.
However, (extra) Reaktor in-ports already DID work for the VST versions (and thus the possibility of sidechaining).

How to reproduce:

Create a new set and add a third midi track.
Choose MIDI to on the first midi track to 5-MIDI.
Choose MIDI to on the second midi track to 5-MIDI.
A crash occurs when MIDI to on the third midi track is choosen to either 4-MIDI or 3-MIDI.

The crash occurs in 4.0.1 aswell.

How to reproduce:

Play a sample on track 1. (I use a 50Hz 0dB sine file.)
Choose 1-Audio in Audio From on track 2 and turn monitor on.
Press Track Activator on track 1.
Bug: A residual volume offset is present while there should be none.

This bug can also be reproduced in 4.0.1.

I myself don't get crashes loading songs containing Reaktor VST(i)/Fx plugins. It does not however load the correct ensemble often.

1) 25-29%

Same performance with HT enabled and XP SP1

Automating Time Delay controllers in devices like Simple Delay is not possible with clip envelopes.
Automating does work in arrangement envelopes.
Obviously it has something to do with the scale difference: in clip mode it's in percentage while in the arranger it's absolute values.

In a second midi track choose Midi From to the first midi track.
Double click to create a new midi clip in the second midi track.
Arm Session Recording on the second midi track.
Release Arm Session Recording when notes are yellow.

First of all.. Why don't you post this in the Bugs & Problems section?

Second, try these things:

-Start Ableton and quit it immediatly.. does it still crash?
-Disable audio
-Turn custom plugin folder off
-Remove Preferences.cfg
-De-install rewire programs (fruityloops/bi-dule/reason)
