Hi, I'm a month and a half into learning Ableton. I'm laying out drum patterns and sometimes the notes don't work (ex: hi hat). It only plays when I remove other notes on the timing grid.

Ok, after playing around more I juuuust about get it. The envelope loop behaviour doesn't retrigger the sample like I imagined it should. It's much more complex than that, which is obviously great if you need something complex and aren't doing something that is best achieved with the arpeggiator ...

I want to be able to have a sample retrigger on, for example, 16ths, (relative to the bpm) as I hold down a drum pad or key. So it'll be responding the midi note on and then triggering the start of the sample every 16th, regardless of its duration, until it gets a note off message.

Turn down the gun in the sample editor maybe? If the source material isn’t clipped then that should solve it.
