Re: record MONO when routed from other track

I can't believe that after so many versions of live, this is still not implemented. It feels like you are missing something, trying to do something that seems so totally basic but it's just not possible. This makes me feel noobish without my fault...

Re: How often is live crashing when using max for live?

I am also getting random crashes on inserting devices. Running latest Live/Max on a MBP, OSX 10.6.6. Apart from that, I got some random crashes on inserting normal VSTs and/or AUs before owning M4L.

Then I could put it on 2 of my other systems.
if you buy another license, you won't have to pay the full price as far as I know :).

Re: When is Live 9 coming?

Yeah, it might come out january 2011, just when the discounts are no longer available. Usually, discounts are offered when there's something new and they still want to make money with what they've already got... I could not resist to upgrade to suite, though :P.

Application-launcher-like access to devices and sounds

I really like the general workflow of Ableton Live, but I think its weakpoint really is the browser . The window is relatively small, and navigating through all the sub devices/folders just to find the right one to drag n drop can be a bit wearisome sometimes.

Looking at application launchers like ...

Re: New authorization method

Yes, that actually is a problem - which could only be handled if ableton checked your activation for your
specific machine on the server, going online on every startup, which is no solution either. Most studio PCs
are even not connected to internet.

So indeed, this would not be possible. But, as ...

Re: New authorization method

I am also a bit annoyed by authorization, although I did not have any problems with it. I think that copy
protections in most cases affect the loyal and paying customer in some negative way. But I don't think
that Ableton might not be nice to you when explaining them your issues, either.

Anyway ...

Re: Snow Leopard Gold Master

Just curious - I have reached the limit of two installations for live. Snow Leopard will arrive this week, so if I wipe everything off the disk and perform a clean install (I don't like clutter on my system), does it change my machine-ID, leaving me unable to use live, since there is no license left ...

mac pro 8-core support

It would be nice to know if the eight cores of a mac pro can be used by
Live without problems. I know the application is multicore, but I've heard
that most applications do not yet support eight cores. Does anybody have
experience?

Live 6 EDU upgrade to Live 7 - license question

Hi there,

having read quite a few threads here, I now know that upgrading an EDU is possible - either at a discount, in case you are still a student, or at full price - if you are no longer a student.

In my case, I am no longer a student now (I am writing on my diploma at the moment, but I am no ...

Ok, so if you can tell for sure it is not an automation curve but an envelope
within the sampler, I believe, but it makes me feel sad :(.

Well, the shown picture is a typical automation curve as used in Logic, EnergyXT, etc...
nothing unusual with it. And yes, these curves partly behave like bezier
ones. In short: this image shows exactly what we need.
Btw, what makes you so sure that it is NOT an automation curve? The black ...

I agree with mechcon. Live is not Logic, and vice a versa. Both softwares are
different engough to own them both. I have worked with many hosts now in different
situations, and I must say that even if there are different approaches in making
music, those proggies all do the same, they allow you to ...

What's the point with backward-compatibility? You don't have to convert the points
you've once set in an older song into bezier-curves if loaded into a new version which
actually supports curving the lines. Those two things can live in perfect co-existance.
If you don't want a curve, you can leave ...

Hi grizzler,

I also own Live 6 EDU. So you can definately tell me that upgrading EDU is possible?
I am no longer officially a student (writing diploma - but no longer immatriculated).
I found a statement in this forum which says that it IS possible to upgrade an EDU
