My point is actually more about the PCR and UA both being equipped with midi as opposed to multiple USB devices.

Will the PCR and UA conflict because of their built in midi capabilities?

Thanks for replying. Weird things start happening when I connect both devices up. The computer starts shutting down random-ly. Actually maybe this is a PC issue and nothing to do with the devices. I'll investigate further.

First off, I'm clueless about PC music production, but I'm trying. Right now I have an Edirol PCR50 midi keyboard and UA25 audio/midi interface (both USB connections) which I'm not even sure I can use together for Ableton music production on the account they both have their own midi interface ...

I have to reiterate I know nothing about computer monitors and that's why I'm posting this. Thanks for your input but I think I'll just do some internet research instead.

Do you have any suggestions of specs, or specific models?

Sorry - I'm a newbie - but can someone suggest a good monitor to use so I can properly see the functions in Ableton? I'm pretty new to electronic music making and haven't got the foggiest idea about what monitor is ideal (my 15" laptop screen is inadequate)...

Running Battery 3 and Absynth 4. I had to actually restart my computer for the VST's to register within Ableton.

When I initially run a couple of native instruments products through ableton as plug ins I get this freeze thing going on and general sluggishness. Though I should add that I have a Line 6 UX1 guitar F.X interface (which has its own ASIO driver) that I want to record in Ableton tracks too. Besides that I only want to stick to Ableton instruments.

I plan to use Ableton instruments exclusively and without VSTs.

Please bear with me: so if I don't have the microsoft GS wavetable synth installed and instead have a midi controller/interface installed, that is all I need to use ableton fully?

Is a controller keyboard not a midi interace in itself? What is the significance of the Microsoft Wavetable GW Synth as a default midi device within PC's? These are the issues that are mainly confusing me.

Sorry, I forgot to add a context to the previous message - I mean in the context of using Ableton instruments.
