Don't underestimate the opportunities and choices you'll gain by learning to formally play and read music. It is the only thing that truly sustains. Musical fads & styles come and go but true musicianship will sustain you. If lessons are getting you down and you have no other quality alternatves for ...

Wow, this monome thing is pretty cool. My initial reaction was, "what the hell do I need with something like that, I've got midi controllers?"

However, after reading a little more about it and seeing it used, I may be changing my mind.

Not to mention, I'm tired of being the last to get hip to new ...

Yeah I notice that I tend to drift off on some tracks and get bored or annoyed with others. "Coming back around" is a good way to describe the post-listening experience, LOL.

As far as "hits" go, I'm kinda using the term sarcastically.

Ambient/Chill Discussion

Simple question, all styles and genres have their standouts...

What do YOU think makes for the "best" ambient, chill, or downtempo?

What do the "hits" (sarcasm) have in common?

Go!

You're not likely going to be able to send any midi data to a plug-in via bypassing the host. You may however be able to tie a function in Live to Reaktor's start/stop and control Live as a trigger for Reaktor using the Remote SL.

Also, is Reaktor automapped? If so, being automapped may allow a ...

Check Live's preferences. There is a series of small triangles to the left of each midi port that Live sees. Click the arrow to see additional options for each midi port.

Once you do you'll probably notice that the DirectSound option is showing for your midi port. Click on it to change to MME. That ...

I think the ReMote SL Compact is great. Super easy to use, read, and program. I use both automap and midi control. The Compact SL is the perfect complimentary piece to my Mackie Control Universal with Live.

I originally ordered both the ReMote SL 25 and the Compact. The Compact is better built and ...

The drum samples/sounds for Battery are really good. So are the drum samples/sounds for Kontakt. Kontakt can read the entire Battery library as well. So if you really like one of Battery's kits but prefer to use Kontakt, just load the kit with Kontakt and hammer away.

The Komplete bundle is really ...

Battery isn't really the same type of product as any of the plugins mentioned above. I'm not too thrilled with Battery at all to be real honest. I think it's just a workflow thing for me. Great program just not my style.

I'm interested in adding a great sounding and great feeling drag & drop ...

No problem... I've tried the Addictive Drums demo. It is very nice. I've yet to purchase any virtual drummers, but AD, EZD and Superior Drums 2.0 all seem like great candidates. I've been very impressed with these types of plugins.

I was kinda holding out until Superior 2.0 came out to make my ...

Session Drums vs. EZ Drummer

Has anyone had a chance to test drive Session Drums? How does it compare to EZ Drummer? I'm curious about the amount of variation and number midi grooves available in Session Drums as well as the workflow.

I've had my eye on EZ Drummer and now Superior Drums 2.0 (due out early next year) but ...
