I've DJ'd with Live since version 2. I've always had random problems with audio drop outs - but never more than 1 or 2 in a 2-3 hour set so its never been a huge worry.
BUT - of course I'd still like to have zero drop outs.
I just got a MacBook Pro 2ghz Intel Core Duo w/512RAM, 5200 Int drive ...
Folks it ain't about the tools but the person behind those tools. Larry Levan (Paradise Garage) was not the best beatmatcher - you all know how hard it is to beat match those disco tune... but he surely knew his crowd and he pumped that beat there was nobody standing still. I tell this if Larry was ...
I only use the mouse (trackpad actually) for triggering clips... everything else I do with the UC33... the next stage will be that Mawser modular controller I hope...
it makes a HUGE difference.. makes you feel more secure that you're physically doing something more than clicking...
The current generation will always be looked down upon by the one before it
I'm not sure this is the case here. I am 1 of the 'previous generation' and I fully embraced Live when it came out. I DJ'd with Francois Kervorkian last week and he is most certainly of a previous generation yet he is one ...

no, no, no, no, no...
Larry Levan & Ron Hardy were arguable the most influential and brilliant DJ's to have ever lived - neither could be said to have had great 'skills'... both pre-dated Ableton ideas by preparing re-edits ...
Live crashes almost anytime I open a NI plug-in to get into some editing or to change an ensemble in Reaktor... soooo annoying. At least v.4.0.4 has always recovered my work from the undo history... previous v4's always resulted in corrupted sessions which was REALLY nasty - lost work a couple of ...
I've read the manual but no info about whether this is possible:
Create a Midi track. Create a simple 2 bar clip. Insert a softsynth as plug-in (say Pro 53) and step write a simple melody. Then insert RANDOM / CHORD / SCALE Midi Plug-ins before the softsynth. Choose some presets to get random ...
yes - launching Live using an alias on the desktop was causing the problem - I just put the presets back in the proper folder and deleted the desktop folder - then deleted the alias and launched from within the Live folder in Apps and the Factory Presets are all present...
