As long as I can remember, Live has had this really shitty bug with MP3's and cache limit. I am now on version 9.5, but I remember Live 8, 9, and all the intermediate versions doing the same thing back in the day.
I'm mainly using Live for DJ-ing so I'll describe what happens when I DJ:

Re: Choosing monitors for bedroom studio.
I recently bought a Yamaha HS7 pair, coz I wanted something not too big for my small desk.. but large enough so I wouldn't need a sub. I went to a local DJ store and had a listen to all the bigger models they had (>5") including the HS8 and I though the 7's sounded the best. I actually didn't need a ...

ableton live re-caching already cached (playing) audio clips
i use live mainly for dj-ing.
i only have 2 clips loaded in my project, the whole time.
let's say one of them is playing, the other one has just finished playing, it stopped.
i look for the next song and drag and drop it from windows explorer.
the clip i just dropped starts to be cached (or analyzed ...

Re: Djing with Live 8
select (ctrl-click in windows) all clips and drag them to the browser list. it will save them all as a live set. and when you want to use these clips, drag the set from the browser to the audio track, you'll have all the clips there.
one thing i hate though.. you'll have to have previously copied ...

Re: pitch shifting audio from external source (traktor)
well.. the clip transpose function does it pretty well, and it uses the elastique version 1.1 (in live 7). and the elastique version 2.1 sounds even better (coming in live
.

pitch shifting audio from external source (traktor)
i managed to route traktor into ableton live, but this would only be great if i could pitch shift the incoming sound in live (traktor's keylock is horrible).
i guess i can't use the clip's transpose function so i need a VST plugin for that.
i tried quikquak pitchwheel and that also sounds pretty bad ...

Re: DJing With Live - All Tracks At Same Level
if i wanted to lower the gain, yes. but if i wanted to raise it?
i want my fader to top at 0db, so i can slam it up when needed and not worry about going too loud.
but then, when eq-ing and stuff (or in a breakdown) i might want to crank it up more, and i can't assign 2 midi controls to the track ...
