I know this has been covered in a few ways already, but I think this is a simple way to introduce the idea to Live, and should be pretty easy to code versus some of the other wishes in this area. It goes something like this:

Just went through of 5gb folders looking for one file... it took 4 minutes! Pathetic... Cubase 5 on the exact same pc takes less than a minute. It's ridiculous that Ableton 8 is so slow at searching.

I'm sitting here, searching for 16 missing samples on one old project, it's been going for almost an hour and a half!! I'm thinking: why doesn't Ableton's auto search function have some manner of pre-caching/database/indexing so you can find files faster? It wouldn't be too hard, just have a option ...

I have this problem as well. It makes the fades really obnoxious to have on, seeing as they do the exact opposite of what they are supposed to!
