sorry if this is a silly question, but is it possible to arm a track then have it automatically record when audio comes in? And not have to hit the record button?

I think I managed to do this a while ago, but Im completely at a loss as to how I did it.

I was able to do this with my behringer mixer, but since its dieing I need to figure something out. I cant afford anything for awhile as well

I have 2 maudio audiophile cards, so thats 2 sets of stereo ins and outs.

I would kind of like the capability to overdub audio. Am I alone in this?

* create a new return track
* insert eight (for eight bars buffer) 'simple delays', each one set to the longest time setting. you have to set the first inserted one to null feedback and full dry/wet...
* put the send corresponding to this send track to 'pre'
* set this return track's send to ...

but what I want to do is to layer a CRAP ton of drum samples and basically end up with a really big wall of noise. It would take for ever to do this using tracks and I would end up with a plethora of em. Then if I wanted to add an effect I would have ...

heres EXACTLY what im doing.

1) create midi track using albino with a midi sequence using lives piano roll thing

2) armed it, made sure overdub was on.

3) launched the track (while not actually recording anything).

4) messed around with filter 1 cutoff

5) stopped it, turned off overdub, lauched ...
