Re: Just a small idea with warping!
Adding to pepezabal's point, MAKE SURE the original recording is playing back unwarped. Otherwise, you get total chaos.

Re: Grouping
Nice idea about the coloring. I imagine one would multiselect a bunch of notes, then right click to bring up the context menu and color options. Basically the same behavior as track coloring.

I highly recommend "Audition." Takeshi Miike's other movies are great too, including "Gozu," which is really amazing and disturbing. Or "Ichi the Killer."

Re: Bromance style chord progression
Hey Rich,
There are surely many different methods, but I recommend this:
1. Find a preset you like in Sylenth1
2. Keep the one you love open, but then open another instance of Sylenth1 with the default preset.
3. Slowly change the settings in the new Sylenth1 so that it looks and sounds like the ...

Cool stuff man. You've achieved a really clear and polished sound. Good job.
Did you mix and master this yourself? Sounds really pro.

Re: Signature song synths?
Hey man,
I'm no pro at this, but I've learned a lot over the past two years by watching Youtube videos on replicating famous or popular synth sounds. Even if they're doing it in another DAW you can still learn a lot. Also, the magazine Computer Music usually has tutorials on achieving certain sounds ...

Re: Portamento Question
Have you tried using the Pitch Envelope? It's located in the Pitch shell, i.e., the right-side, 2nd section from bottom.
Maybe try setting the envelope to something like this:
attack: 250ms
initial: -24st
peak: 0 st
Then, in the Pitch Shell set the Pitch Env to 100.
Because peak is 0, when you ...

Re: creating soundscapes/atmospheres in live
Sampler is where I would start, because you can take almost any sample and manipulate the hell out of it. Add some reverb, effects, etc, and you're on the way.

Hey man,
Everyone has a different opinion and setup, but I absolutely love DJing with my Macbook Pro, APC40, and MOTU UltraLite-mk3 Hybrid. I think the Motu is great for both home production and DJing at a bar/club.

Re: Help Me Sample
Well, you don't necessarily need Sampler. You can do a lot with Simpler too -- you can drag your own wavs into that and do crazy stuff. However, the limitation with Lite in terms of creating your own instruments is the ability to create Instrument Racks . And on top of that you only get a max of 8 ...
