MIDI Note Length With Live 9 - Behaviour Change?

Hi there! Loving the new Live. :) I have what is likely a silly question, but I can't seem to find the answer. In 8, if I selected several notes of differing length and then shortened them, they wouldn't shrink smaller than the quantize grid. It was very straight forward to get a bunch of notes to b...

Re: snapping the END of a clip to the grid - how?

If I understand your problem correctly, here's how I do it... Drag your sample into the arrangement view. Double click the clip to get it showing in clip view. Turn warping on for the clip. This will set the start and end areas from [sample] time to bars-beats-sixteenths. Set the end to some even ba...

Re: 8.1.4 Suite Install

OK, thank you for your help. Before I uninstall 8.1.3 could I trouble you with one more question? I checked the size of the 8.1.3 folder and the 8.1.4 folder. The 8.1.3 folder (~1.5 GB) is roughly three times the size of the 8.1.4 folder (~500 MB). Do you know why the difference in size? I just want...

8.1.4 Suite Install

Good evening...well at least here in Edmonton it's evening. :)

I downloaded the program only DMG (Mac OS X) to install 8.1.4. The page said to download the smaller one if I already have 8.1.3 installed. Does 8.1.4 use the library in the 8.1.3 install? Do I have to leave both versions installed?

Re: Live 8.0.5/APC-40 MIDI Mapping Problem

Okay, I think I got this one solved. In preferences, in addition to the track/sync/remote that needs to be turned on for the device under Input... it needs to be set up in output as well. Strange, since I never changed any device settings and this had worked well before. Whew! That was a close one,...

tlennon, no you're right. I couldn't get it to behave the way I wanted it to.

But trommelmeister your idea is perfect. I'll implement it tonight and it should get me exactly what I was looking for. Sincere to you both for bothering to reply at all. :)

Re: MIDI Clip Editor...Change Notes to Drum Names...Drum Rack?

Ack. I think I might have figured this out. :P Of course I wait to post it and as soon as I do I get an answer. If I create a drum rack and drag one isntance of uTonic in the device area, shouldn't all the pads trigger the appropriate notes? I don't HAVE TO create an external instrument for each pad...

MIDI Clip Editor...Change Notes to Drum Names...Drum Rack?

I have what I'm sure is a very stupid question. But I honestly have tried to figure this out myself before posting. I'm still quite new to Live and am forcing myself to use it more in depth than I ahve been to date. When I create a MIDI clip that drives a VST drum machine, I would like the notes on ...

Re: Multiple Output Instruments (AU / VST)

So what I did was to create an audio track and it had output B available as it's source. Does that sound like the way to handle it? It seems to work as intended. Only the one sound I sent to output B is coming through that audio track. I don't want t create two instances because then I would have to...

Multiple Output Instruments (AU / VST)

I'm working with uTonic...it offers two assignable stereo outputs or a version that sends each of the eight sounds to a different output. How do I work with these outputs in Live? Changing to a different output in the track seems to have no effect. I'm using the two output version of the plug but I ...

Somewhat OT: Synplant & Live's X-Y Control

Anybody know if one can map the various gene controls in Synplant to the X-Y Control, or some other way of automating the gene parameters? Things like filter cutoff...can this be assigned to some sort of MIDI parameter so it can be automated?

Re: Samplification! ....ok now where is it?

I was wondering the same thing, but it seems to just mix in with everything else in instrument racks, etc. I'll be watching this thread for sure as I'm new to Live and was a bit confused when I installed.

Re: Built In Lessons Gone?

It looks like you can go into quantize settings and activate End and it will set your notes lengths accordingly. Sorry for not seeing this sooner!
