audio does not travel through midi.... it only transmits note values (pitch, velocity, etc) and control change numbers. you need to run the stereo audio cables into ableton using an interface, if you cant do that, try putting some kind of drum rack preset in the midi track you want to play

what i'm saying is, to get audio from the drum kit, you need to run the audio from the module, into an audio interface, into an audio track in live.

From what it sounds like, you are trying to get audio through USB MIDI, I think what you need to do is get the audio from your drum kit going into an audio track in live. Thats how i play an electric kit through ableton in my band, but I also use MIDI from the drum module running into drum racks in ...

are you trying to record the midi and play it through a drum rack? or trying to put the audio into your set?

Simple as this... Plug in the two MacBooks with an Ethernet cable, join the midi session, select external midi sync on the slave computer. The end

hey all, my improv electronica duo is having problems with midi sync over an ad-hoc wifi network, was wondering if anyone knows how to set up a sync by plugging our laptops together via ethernet. any help on this would be much appreciated, the drift of the wireless signal is killing my keyboard ...

my buddy and i have been having a little trouble with the tempo sync when our macbooks are connected over the wireless network. Is there a way to run the midi network through a wired connection without an ethernet router?

So... I am playing in a live improv electronic duo, and have been having some issues with the MIDI network between our 2 computers and an ipad running multiple apps.

the setup:
my computer: runs an ad-hoc network, griid connector, and ableton live sending the master midi tempo signal

So... I have found out that live has some standard signals for the mixer controls that are accepted from any controller. these usually take the track number as a midi channel. If you use a cc7 that changes the volume of the track. ch1 cc14 is the master volume. I found these out by mapping the apc40 ...
