I saw PVD on Thursday for the 3rd time, and he was much more involved with the audience than I'd seen the previous few times. He smiled, he cheesed for pictures when people got up to take them, and he seemed pretty excited to be there. I honestly really dislike trance now, but the guy was incredible ...

I have an Imac, but I have not DJed with it yet. I think I'm going to upgrade to Live 6 and get an Ilugger in the next few weeks though and maybe take it out for a gig or 2. I have the 17 inch intel with 2 gig of RAM, and it's just so much faster than my Vaio notebook. 20 pounds isn't too much to ...

New track (tech, electro-house)

Hey guys, check out my new track and let me know what you think. Keep in mind I only started messing around with production less than a week ago, so it's just a first effort. It's not mastered yet in case you notice some parts being louder than others and whatnot. I don't even have a title for it ...

Stoopit is definitely the jam. I live down in Florida where breaks are king, but we have one good house night here. People go fuckin' mad for that track. I'll give the mix a listen tomorrow. Cheers!

Lots of good stuff in here, thanks guys! And I will see if I can find that book at a store around here. What synths do you guys use? I've read a lot of good things about NI synths like Reaktor and Absynth, which I may look into purchasing. I guess I just do need some lessons on piano really so I ...

Guess I should have already mentioned that I do all my DJ sets with Ableton already. I've been playing out on it for over a year now, so I'm very familiar with that side of it. The making of music with Ableton is another story though.

How did you learn to produce?

I've been DJing for almost 10 years, and I've recently decided that I want to learn how to produce. Listening to 1000s upon 1000s of electronic songs in my time, I get the basic structure of electronic music, and I understand the elements of songs. However, I've had no formal training on any ...

Doug Collins Live @ Nite Owl (minimal, tech-house)

This is a set I recorded live (with Live!) at the end of the summer at one my crew and I's monthlies. It's definitely one of my more downtempo sets compared to what I usually play, but I was pretty happy with how it came out! Let me know what you think!

I own numerous UDG record, courier, and accessory bags and they all look exactly like they did the day I bought them. My first bag I bought almost 5 years ago, and it still looks the same today, and I've been a working DJ for all 5 of those years, so it's got some travel time. They are of serious ...

Well I got 18 months same as cash, and I'm pretty religious about paying all the extra money I have a month towards my cards. And I also have an Allen & Heath mixer, a Firewire 410, and a MIDI controller to sell now that I bought this stuff. So that'll give me a nice little payment next month. and I ...

Welp, went and maxed out the credit card today..

I bought a new Intel 17-inch Imac, Motu Ultralite, and Pioneer DJM-800. I think I may have wet myself when I got home and looked at it all. God I'm stoked!!

I have mine setup by genres as well. Got them narrowed down to about 10 or so different things. However, when I am going to be playing out, I usually just pick around 50 songs I think will go along well with the night and copy and paste those songs into a folder with the date on them, as well as any ...

So then is it possible to set up 4 stereo channels off the Ultralite so I can put 4 stereo pairs into my Allen & Heath and play off that instead of MIDI? I've tried to set it up on my 410, but cannot get it to work at all (I do have all the outputs active). I've heard it's possible, but you can only ...

Ultralite Stereo Pairs

I know this is probably a stupid question because I'm assuming it's a yes. I'm getting a new Imac here in a few weeks and I'm going to get an Ultralite too since I've heard so many horror stories about the 410 on Mac's. The question is, you can use the outputs on the Ultralite as stereo pairs on ...
