Re: Latency midi Keyboard

The latency is not from your usb connection to the computer. The signal from you pressing the key and it going into the computer is relatively fast. What takes time is turning those signals into an instrument sound, and then rendering it so it sounds nice and mixing all the info together to go out a...

Re: Mixing is a pain in the ass (I’ll explain why)

Imma keep it real with you chief, I’m still relatively new to mixing of a higher caliber, and I have no clue what those are When you use audio material within Ableton Live, day one you ought to come to terms what warping is and how it affects your sound. Also know that the Complex modes can color a...

Re: Mixing is a pain in the ass (I’ll explain why)

Do you use Complex or Complex Pro warp algorithms? Those can affect the result of audio clips in a number of ways. Re: What is a synth key?

Just to add to this, don’t overlook what was mentioned above about them being ‘polyphonic’.

Often, but not always, synth Leads might be monophonic. And really cut through the mix or garner lots of attention with their character.

Re: First question and it's probably stupid

Sometimes people send Returns to other Returns for feedback, for complex chains, or even for some basic cases like ‘my delay effect should also have some of that reverb’. You can turn any of those Send knobs on and get your dub on. But if you don’t intend to use that particular routing, maybe save y...

Re: What does "Go to next field (Bar.beat.16th)" do?

Well. All these responses have caused me to load up Live and check it out for myself. The shortcut is pretty basic. Let’s say your loop Length is 1.0.0 If you highlight the 1 in that field, you can change it by typing 2.2.1 for example. Or 2,2,1 The periods and commas allow you to automatically jump...

Re: Help choosing a Piano/Keyboard - with a Twist

I got the Casio CDP-s350 and could not be happier. It’s got a little of everything. It’s really fun to use. Does not have a lot of the ‘control’ aspects but it has great built in sound. For midi you are forced to use USB midi (not a deal breaker by any means) but it also allows the 3 pedal input tha...

Re: Strange Buffer Issue

If you have a set with zero plugins, you will have minimal latency for your buffer settings. When you add plugins, some have a higher processing tax than others and will result in added latency. Common latency inducing plugins are high quality reverbs, guitar fx processors, mastering plugins, vocal ...

Re: Sounds/Instruments - I'm bewildered...

‘Sounds’ is categorized by quality. Keys, pads, bass etc. ‘Instruments’ is categorized by devices. Operator, Tension, Simpler etc. You can make a pad sound from any of those devices. Instead of having to go to each one to find a pad, you can go to ‘Sounds’ and see all the pad sounds regardless of wh...

Re: Samsung vs Iphone?

This depends on what the purpose is? It is strange to ask this in a music forum unless it is music related. You have not explained your particular needs though so it is hard to help you. For my purposes, being into music, absolutely nothing matches the capabilities of the iPhone right now. No contes...

Re: Complete NOOB question...

As mentioned above, warping is a perfect start. Gives you so many lessons on how to handle audio clips in Live. I’d say take it a slight step further. Warp those clips and then try practicing doing live mixing with them in session view. Even if you only have two or three to start off with. That’ll g...

Re: Live not working properly

What kind of computer? What are your audio driver settings? OS? Version of Live (8, 9, 10?)

As mentioned above. A power plan that allows full power to your system and doesn’t put it in power saving mode can help.
