Re: Newer Audio Interfaces...

I have a 3rd gen 4i4 Scarlett and am very happy with it. They removed some physical controls from the front. But it is 4 inputs without an extra power supply, which is a rarity. Pretty damn new. And reliable. I also love that it is deluxe enough that it includes midi in and out ports. So it meets al...

Re: Ableton and Novation Launchpad MK2 BUG???

In midi preferences, turn off ‘Remote’ for in and out unless you are actually doing midi mapping with the Launchpad. If you’re just doing standard functions, the only thing necessary is to have it set up in the upper part of Midi Preferences in Live, the ‘Control Surface’ section. If you have Remote...

Re: Ableton needs to be more transparent about it's updates

I guess something that also throws a wrench into the whole equation is the upcoming Apple OS update. I can see wanting to ensure that at least the current version of Live will be supported through to the Pooh that it functions reliably on the upcoming OS. On Windows though, it stands as it is. And a...

Re: Live not using all cores

Rendering is a time-leap. And a summing. Some channels probably need very little actual computation and processing in order to generate whatever is in them. And that can be held in ram while waiting for the others to still process. My guess for rendering (I’m no expert, but trying to imagine the cri...

Re: Ableton needs to be more transparent about it's updates

Support for future versions is basically a selling point. And it is fair to use that criteria to judge whether or not you find the value of the software justifiable. Many daw companies to offer the free upgrade either for life, or for several versions. But yeah, they describe it as a feature that th...

Re: Ableton is amazing. Do I have the rights to what I've created.

Sometimes this is all it takes to make a track that ends up really taking off. So yeah, have at it. But also keep in mind that now with a lot of algorithms on YouTube etc, they explicitly ask you if you’ve used any presets they might be widely available. The thing is, even though the sounds are free...

Re: Processor Use

There comes a time for balance. It’s either have a lot of CPU intensive devices and increase the audio buffer, or have one or two and set the buffer as low as you can get away with. You can’t have both. And nothing in this current era will fix that.

Re: Kick vs Sampler

Yeah. Gives one a lot to think about actually. They do it because that instrument can play multiple instances of the sample simultaneously. If you drop in a normalized sample, any little thing could result in unpleasant results. Also, if you start playing with Velocity for the amp section, the sound...

Re: Kick vs Sampler

Followed your video and replicated your steps. Everything turned out how you experienced it. The thing that fixed it for me was changing the Volume Envelope’s “Volume” to 0.00 dB. It defaults to -12, and I initially figured the default would include velocity percentage, but it doesn’t. Anyway, it we...

Re: New Confused User (with the McMillen 12 Step)

Easy ways to trigger clips are either using Drum Rack slots, or by triggering notes mapped to clips in Session View.

The organ thing, I’d have to look into more.

Re: Metronome sync problem

Is warp off for that sample? Are Fades turned on?

Do other kick samples do the same thing? Maybe the hit of that kick sample is delayed a little after the waveform starts.

Which is leading, the kick or the metronome? Are you using the default metronome? What audio interface?

Re: Kick vs Sampler

The sample properties tab looks fine. It’s likely something in the filter / envelope tab. Could be amp envelope related, velocity related, etc. and it’s hard to have an idea of what the difference is now that you’ve deactivated the filter.

Re: No sound playback of WAV in tracks

Arrangement View and Session View are two different ways of playing audio. In Session view, you play the audio by hitting the little play button and it will loop indefinitely. If you trigger another clip on the same channel, the new clip will interrupt the other clip and start looping indefinitely. ...

Re: Ableton Live 10.2 / 10.5 when?

I am sorry for making this into a ‘feature request’ thread, two things I’d like to see added in the near future (along with multi-touch) are: 1. More easily accessible midi mapping tools. Something that lets people do what Control Surface selection doesn’t, but without having to mess with coding/scr...
