Re: latency with the multi-function button on looper device?

Single, first tap is instant (well, aside from standard audio latency which has a few factors to consider). It is not acceptable for there to be a delay for the function of the first tap, so it always acts immediately and acts out the process of the first tap no matter what. The second tap, it is ac...

Re: I dont want live to set my MIDI Preferences automatically

Next time it auto detects your device, set the input and output to None and leave it up there.

Re: Random Muffled Noise

Sometimes if you bump a midi controller while you’re doing something on an armed channel, the midi controlller will abruptly change a control. My guess is the mod wheel. But it could be any control. If a control is in a certain position and you bump it, it can cause that control in the device to jum...

Re: Random Muffled Noise

What was generating the sound? An instrument?

Do you have any midi controllers connected to your computer?

Re: Stop global transport from playing automatically

You can load clips into the drum rack instead and trigger them that way.

Or,
You can set Global Quantization to None and the clips will trigger right away. If you want to retain the global setting of 1 Bar, you can go into the clips’ properties and set them all to None for clip launch quantization.

Re: looping audio files?

A few options, none of the options are perfect: 1. If you’re not concerned about which part of the clip loops there is the Follow Action. It’ll simply retrigger a clip or trigger another clip. But it triggers based on increments of bar length with respect to the global tempo. 2. You can use a drum r...

Re: Trigger different chords/slices using just one single note ???

I’d make a rack. Use the ‘Random’ midi device to trigger sequentially increasing semitones. Make a rack after that device which has a strip for each note that will be triggered. Or have a drum rack after it that does the same. Trying to think if there is an alternative to having to resort to using t...

Re: Parallel Effects Rack vs Return Channels

If it is an effect you plan to share with other channels, then you’d probably want to use a Return. The nice thing about using Parallel however is that rendering just that channel is a lot simpler.

it's nice to see it taking place and at a small fraction of the cost of desktop software, in some cases 1/10th the cost or less of the same desktop version.
Hurry up and get Accusonus ‘Beatformer’ while it’s free (ends March 8 )

Re: Detect tempo of mutlitrack (NO AUDIO WARPING/QUANTISATION))

Ah for swing I actually don’t know. You can acquire the ‘groove’ from a clip and put it into the groove pool. You can find the groove ‘clips’ used by the groove pool, they’ll be simple midi with timing and velocity info. And you can edit that to taste, to maybe simplify it. Then put the newly edited...

Re: Question about controlling separate software synth with one MIDI controller knob

There might be control surface scripts you can find for your controller. These allow you to automatically control a number of parameters on a device you select without mapping. It’s usually 8 parameters with support for pages of 8. The 8 parameters you control depend on the device, but in the case o...

Re: Detect tempo of mutlitrack (NO AUDIO WARPING/QUANTISATION))

It can actually get ‘slightly’ more tricky than how I described it. First align all the tracks. Then in a track with clear transients, find the ‘one’, or A ‘one’. This will be your warping clip. But don’t warp it yet. Being aligned, drag the start point of all the clips by dragging the left edge so ...

Warp one. Duplicate the channel. Mute the warped channel. That’s how you can use master/slave without having your playback clips warped.

Re: Djing with Ableton

I don’t know what your particular workflow is using the APC with Live, which is why I did not suggest a specific app. But I will say that djay is a great free app. It won’t support the APC though unless you use their wonky subscription service. Not a fan.... but it does make the app extremely powerf...
