Re: Trying to find a suitable string orchestra for backing tracks

Don’t use the Ableton Chord midi effect for this. If the vsts you have do chords, that might be okay. You’ll have to do the chords the old fashioned way. And play with the velocities of each note of the chord, chord spacing, and maybe inversions in mind. You won’t get stuff like that by just using t...

Re: Panning doesn't seem to do anything

Do you have anything in the master channel (especially stereo enhancers, Reverb, or EQ8)? Nothing. I haven't got that far, just trying to figure out how to create arrangements in Session view. Just laid a basic quantized flute loop, added some drums via Push (everything's been done through Push), t...

Re: Modwheel is taken over

There are a lot of different ways to assign midi controls to parameters of devices depending on the kind of device. A vst has midi learn, almost instruments have assignment from within the device, Live has midi mapping, and Control Surface (blue hand control), and on top of all this you can also oft...

Re: Red Dot over Tempo Setting?

Go to Arrangement View and look at automation on the Master channel. Or, you might even be able to just right-click the tempo and view the automation and be able to remove it. If there are any nodes on the timeline, then that is what is changing your tempo.

Re: Switchig between minor and major chords (using the Chord Effect)

You can assign to a knob or to a button. Or, since you don’t have a keyboard yet, you can apply the same concept and build the rack now and assign a qwerty key with key mapping. For the key mapping, you need to set your minimum and maximum values to +4 and +3 so that it toggles between the two value...

Re: Switchig between minor and major chords (using the Chord Effect)

If you’re using a basic scale with no outside notes then you can place the Scale effect after the chord effect. It’ll force majors to become minors if that’s what the scale calls for.

Re: Keep scene going for a bar and fade out during next scene

If you make two channels per track and then group them, you’ll still be able to have them essentially function as single channels from the live set. Alternatively, make some hard choices. Let the interlude be a way to cut Some elements out abruptly (and let this channels be ways to bring in elements...

Re: Changing tempo of loop

Warping tells Live the tempo of the material you are working with. So each track needs to be warped. And it could be a little tricky. So it helps to learn how warping works first and get an understanding of it. Once something is warped, Seg. BPM tells the bpm of the segment you have your curser in. ...

Re: Song sounds perfect in ableton but exported it sounds bad ):

If you want consistency, record it. Then it’ll always play back the same. But the generator on its own is intended to have a personality, it is intended to be ‘caught’. This also gives those devices certain characteristics when doubled. Otherwise they’d just full blown add together into the same ton...

I am not familiar with the situations the original poster is dealing with, but I do have to say that you might get more bang for your buck if you upgrade to a win 10 computer instead of a Mac. There’s been some lukewarm vibes going around lately when it comes to macs. It’d be nice if they upped thei...

Re: Installing VST’s

1. Make sure it is the same type of software as Live. So the vst should be 64 bit. And not vst3, which isn’t supported yet. Assuming all that is correct. 2. Some plug ins are more fussy about how you manage their files than others. If the plug in was installed to the directory that you have the vst ...

Re: Why No Send/Return Track Clips for Looping Automation?

You can route the audio output of a return channel to an audio channel instead of Master. Then that audio channel can be the return channel’s channel strip and you can automate that.

Re: Am I conceptually missing the boat on warping?

Place a warped clip and the bass clip on Arrangement View. Set the Warped clip to control the tempo of Live with the Master/Slave button. Make sure the bass clip is unwarped. Actually, you might even want it unwarped before you do this, and deleted analysis file, having warp files when you drag in t...

Re: Am I conceptually missing the boat on warping?

You probably won’t need 100 markers. But it does pay to spend a little time familiarizing yourself with the concept of warping. If the beat of your clip is consistent and electronic, it should help make the clip much easier to warp. Even better if it has clear and strong visible transients. If the t...

Not sure about that specific pattern, but if you look into the Launchpad95 script, there is an assortment of note layouts to choose from. If you find the website for it you can see a list of the possible layouts.
