Re: Midi Sequence Player

If you do map the key range, map it to the channel instead of the clip slot. If I recall, you can do this. Then you can easily load in multiple clips and easily trigger any of them without having to remap (keep in mind you need to highlight the correct Scene though) Also. Since you’re working in Arr...

Re: Range of the octave

Maybe the keys on your keyboard are mapped somehow. Do you use any other controllers like a launchpad? The easy fix would either be to change the midi channel that the keyboard transmits at or turn off ‘Remote’ in midi preferences. If you turn off ‘Remote’ you won’t be able to map things to your key...

Re: Link reliably one beat out of step

Are they both the same version of Live? Link has had a few updates over the years which make it behave a little quirky with other versions at times. I can’t say this is fact but in my experiences, I have had some odd timing behaviors between diffeeent versions. But yeah, I agree with other comments ...

Re: Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

If you’re that determined that there’s a difference, it might be worth investing the time into recording actual comparable evidence.

Then possibly it could be looked at and Live could be improved??

Re: Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

To be honest, what you’re describing the problem to be doesn’t make any sense as a result. And I am not satisfied with your method of comparison. A proper comparison would be if you exported it, not normalized. Then grabbed a second computer or a recorder of some kind and recorded it doing normal pl...

Re: Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

What are you listening to the exported track on? What software and are you using different hardware for putting the audio through?

This is usually the issue. Using totally different software to listen or different hardware. The audio itself is usually mostly the same.

Re: How to make Ableton follow my MIDI controller movements and display parameters I'm affecting on screen?

You can map the knob to the bar on the top of that effect device that shows the name of the device.

That bar is for mapping so you can jump to that device. If you map a control to it, then whenever Live senses movement for that control, it’ll jump to that device.

Re: Outputting to multiple MIDI channels

Have you tried receiving directly from the device on the track instead of just from the midi track?

Re: Link follow time

Link is mostly just for forcing syncing per bar (it can do other things but basically that’s the common use). Link turns all connected devices essentially into Session View clips. This means they don’t refer to the state of the other clip when being triggered. So in its basic state, Link does not sy...

Re: Outputting to multiple MIDI channels

Make a midi channel and have it receive midi from that channel. See what options there are for receiving midi, instead of thinking about how to send 4 channels from one channel.

Re: how to assign chords to midi notes

You can get a lot of mileage out of a combination of two devices, with multiple instances. In rare cases you might need to go in and do some mapping per-key. But with the Chord device (and maybe racked up with various chord types) and having the Scale device follow it (also with many variations), yo...

Re: iPad

For midi you can get very useful and reliable latency. For audio, it is not currently possible. As for connections, for previous iPads and iPhones you were stuck getting strictly apple brand products in order to make connections. But on the late model pros with USB C you can use almost any brand USB...

Re: Trying to find a suitable string orchestra for backing tracks

Don’t use the Ableton Chord midi effect for this. If the vsts you have do chords, that might be okay. You’ll have to do the chords the old fashioned way. And play with the velocities of each note of the chord, chord spacing, and maybe inversions in mind. You won’t get stuff like that by just using t...
