Re: Lock MIDI

Depending on the end goal you probably could have achieved this by using session mode. Not sure that is very helpful. How would you propose to achieve that? I don't see how Session would work differently from Arrangement in this case. It depends on their definition of locking, my interpretation wou...

Re: no sound from monitors

If you want to run the audio through the Scarlett card and hear it on your monitors then you will have to plug your monitors into the Scarlett card.

Re: Simple question from a new user.

In the MIDI Clip View's Notes section you can see boxes marked "Start" and "End". This is where you can specify numerically the start and end points of your MIDI clip - either by entering a number with your keyboard or clik-and-dragging your mouse up or down. To make the MIDI clip longer simply incr...

Re: Why would the same compressor pasted onto various tracks seem to work less strong proportionally depending on the tr

But when I play back everything, there are a few of the more ambient/vocal tracks that are WAY louder than the drums. In fact its like I can barely hear the drums, and this is confusing me because I actually set the threshold lower than on the drum tracks. Lowering the threshold increases the amoun...

Re: Focusrite crackling after playing audio for a few seconds

The first thing that comes to mind is to check your Focusrite card driver's buffer size on this particular computer. Most crackles come from the buffer being set too low.

Re: Can't lower buffer size below 256 samples (in/out)

That is very normal behaviour. Your laptop's internal sound card MME/DirectX driver doesn't have a high enough performance to go below 256 samples. It is the same on my laptop. Hence why I use an external sound card. The MAC laptop does have better performance as it is using a CoreAudio driver. On W...

Re: What level is Normalize on export?

Normalize is rarely useful really for export. You have no useful control over the peaks, RMS, LUFS, etc values of your audio. Normalize (in any software) basically means that the highest peak is found in the audio in question and then the volume of the entire audio is increased or decreased, so that...

Re: "Exempt" Track from Master Automation?

This is what Bus/Group Tracks are for. Bus/Group tracks group together the audio of any amount of tracks you like on each Bus/Group - which then can be manipulated with effects, fader, panning, mute, etc - and then that, in turn, is sent to the Master. So you create 1 Bus/Group for your 20 tracks - ...

Re: VST Parameter Changes Won't Update the Corresponding Device Macros

Bug or feature? The other way, it works: Change macro will update the corresponding VST GUI panel element. Neither Bug or Feature, just the way things work in MIDI assignments. The approach is top-down, not down-up. This way you can override the paramater settings further down the chain (Cutoff, fo...

Global Quantization: (1) in the picture below is probably set to "None" now. https://cdn-resources.ableton.com/80bA26cPQ1hEJDFjpUKntxfqdmG3ZykO/static/images/manual/en/28992.5066abc76915.png This is if your clips are set to read Global Quantization (the default behaviour) in their Clip Launch menu. ...
