Re: Ambient Melodic Electronic Track

Really liked it,

I think adding some breathy shoe-gaze type vocals would really give the track an extra dimension.

Personally I would make the track shorter, maybe cut the intro a bit.

Re: anyone know how to re-create this weird Royksopp sound?

In the past I’ve created similar-ish sounds by vocoding two Malstrom synths together in Reason using saw wave based patches on both.

Try experimenting with this (obviously doesn’t have to be in Reason), you may not get the exact sound your after but I’ve found this a really good way to get some ...

Re: Distorted Electro Track - Digital Army

Very Nice.

Personally I would cut out the intro and I think the drums need to cut through a bit more, but the body of the song is great. Reminds me of Boys Noise and all that.

Re: What constitutes a "DJ mix"? - Discuss

A good dj set has the structure of a story; a beginning, middle and end. Pretentious as fck answer I know but it’s true.

This Richie Hawtin video is one of the best I’ve seen on Youtube; exploring how software has opened up a lot more possibilities for djs. He's using Traktor Scratch but the ...

+ 1 for the Microkorg

I’ve not got one and I know a lot of people don’t like them but I’ve seen so many bands that have one and use it, it’s bound to be a classic.
Prodigy
Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs
Errors
LCD SS

To name a few.

the only thing i can say that was decent that came out this year is m83's saturdays=youth
thats it...everything else has been blah.

A good album, Graveyard Girl is simply perfect. Not a great album though in my opinion, especially in comparison with their / his other albums Dead Cities, Red Seas ...

Yeah they’re excellent, everything and the kitchen sink thrown into their music, but it works. Hoping they come to the UK soon so I can book them for my night.

Big fan of this lot @ the moment as-well. www.myspace.com/partsandlabor

I play a lot of indie / IDM music and get this problem.

* Some songs are just a bit more complicated to warp than others, try giving them another go.
* Make separate loops for the intro and outro, then you can warp them correctly and cross fade between them without affecting the main body of the ...

I think they’re decent enough and have got a good buzz about them but they’re massive scensters who are punching above their weight at the moment and will probably drop off the radar in a year.

I went to see them @ Southampton and it was a complete piss take, instead of the promised live set they ...

Cross-fading!

I personally think the key to that Ed Banger sound is sampling. Line up two loops then cross-fade like crazy between them and tweak as necessary, and repeat if necessary. Try experimenting by off setting the start point of one loop. This is basically what I done for a mash-up / tune ...

Fuck CDS.

Any feedback on the Behringer bcd 2000 or 3000.

I’m an indie DJ who’s fcking off cds for good. I’m not sure whether to go this route of buy something like an M audio X-Session Pro and take my external sound card along to gigs as well. The bcd looks a bit cheap, but what do you expect ...

After a lot of thought I bought a Dell Inspiron 640 Laptop about a year ago. I use it for djing and producing with Live, reason, recycle and native instruments (plus some hardware) and it’s been perfect for me. It hasn’t got a TI firewire chip set but I just use a USB audio interface which works ...

Korg R3 ...... Any Good?

Hi,

Has anyone got any feedback / comments about the Korg R3?

I tried one out the other day and thought it had a nice sound to it, plus it had a vocoder which I desperately need / want! I haven’t had a hardware synth before so I haven’t got much of a benchmark to compare it against.

Would ...
