So not in practice then? It's like saying theoretically a benevolent dictatorship would be the best, but we all know how dictatorships have gone so far.stringtapper wrote: The logic is perfectly fine because I'm talking about the law in it's purest theoretical sense.
Can't disagree with that. Self governance is definitely key to a more utopian existence, but you get what I'm saying, that the law is not black and white, no matter howe many people think it is.Also notice how your point that the "The law is ever shifting, and to constantly obey whatever is the law at the time is to have no free will at all IMO," is really a good argument against governance in the first place. IMO, having any law at all is inherently contrary to free will.
Yeah I don't steal, not even from the government, but I have in the past when I was younger and ran pirated software, but I'm one of those people that truly was "trying before I buy". At this point stability is far more important than making sure a purchase is a good financial choice, but that's come at a price, some software I've bought never lived up to the promise, and lo and behold, the motherfuckers upgrade the shit and it's worthless to sell. Unlike hardware, 6 year old software is absolutely worthless, or dammed near.My point, again, is that those who would say that their crime doesn't matter are bound to have something they deem to be a crime happen to them. How will they feel when the perpetrator is as cavalier about their actions as they themselves have been? It's only to make people think about their actions and their attitudes, which I know is asking a lot of the general public.
There is some software that holds value, and there is hardware that loses mass value, but the archetype is solid: software loses value at such a fast rate that it's a freaking shame that not all of it has great demos like Live. I despise thieves, but snitches are just as bad, I agree with that, they're the other side of the same coin, the rabidly anti authority and the rabidly pro.
I don't have any problem with using [k] software to evaluate software without proper demos, but it bothers me when people don't buy it. It also bothers me when software companies don't allow transfers, or charge fees for it, or charge 1/2 of the original cost of the software for an upgrade etc.
It's why I don't own Max/MSP, you're not allowed to sell it. ( reports are that you will be able to resell M4L, which is another reason to get it ) It's why I would never buy Waves plug ins, and it's why I support companies that have good policies that way.
