Re: Rendered Latency

Exactly how are they not in sync? Are you aligning the beginning of the waves? There’s also a track offset function in each tracks mixer section.

Re: Audition individual layers in an instrument rack

Yes, drum rack, though it says instrument rack where the multisamples are. Thanks for the tip but I find it odd that there’s no audition function.

Re: Catalina will break Live 9

The really "weird" thing is that you can run just about any flavor of any other OS on just about any Intel/Mac hardware. I wonder what's going to happen when Apple switches CPUs from Intel as is rumored?

Re: Audition individual layers in an instrument rack

Nothing? Is it not possible? I was assuming I was missing something simple.

Re: A couple of mastering questions from a rookie

Yeah, originally, mastering was really about limiting frequencies to fit the music on the record and not damage the playback equipment record when being played back. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIAA_equalization. These days, it's just generally a term that's been hijacked to mean final mix. Some...

Re: Syncing Live setup (plugs, fx, audio fx rack, own patches) between OSX computers?

I generally keep my stuff on a NAS box, which is about the same and Live will have issues at times. Generally speaking, I don’t think it deals with network slowness very well. I just noticed that a preset was corrupt for no apparent reason so I may give this up again and go back to syncing by hand, ...

Audition individual layers in an instrument rack

Can you, and how would you do this within the rack, or even the larger wave display? In this particular case I have twelve velocity layers per drum and I'd like to hear how each layer sounds. The play buttons seem to only play at one velocity.

Note that the community generally comes up with solutions to backward compatibility, and forward in some cases. Just look around.

Re: Catalina will break Live 9

This is a software car crash of industrial proportions. It is caused by Apple of course. It seems a bit flippant to suggest that I never update my operating system. I could do that for a short while but not forever. I had decided that I didn't need to upgrade to Live 10 and I could not justify the ...

Re: External recordings sound low

Focusrite is rather famous for this if you don't get the input level just right, depending on the generation. Turn it up the gain until you see orange, back off just a hair. Sometimes you have to turn the knob or move the slider up (the control app) a lot further than might seem intuitive, but you s...

Sucks. Especially when you have 44.1 max stuff you want to use it with.

With the myriad features in DAWs these days, a good read of the manual really helps. I still find stuff I had no idea was there.

Re: macOS 10.14.6 Serious CPU issues / Background Processes

I’ve got a Marshall CODE that only operates at 48khz only for some bizarre reason. It would work in an aggregate sometimes, but other times the aggregate would go belly up. I finally just gave up and started recording from it via the line out.

Re: macOS 10.14.6 Serious CPU issues / Background Processes

Running a second display (4K TV) is a no no for me while recording. So is mixing sample rates on aggregate devices. I just switch between input devices now. The program is still loading stuff for quite a while after you run it so higher CPU usage is to be expected.

No more difficult than it was the first time. But be sure to save your user Library if you want all the presets, clips, etc. back. You can also save the racks folder to avoid reinstalling those. Look in preferences for the locations.
