Re: Custom Key Commands and more of them

Dancin' with myself here, but as an example of "more". Key commands to edit info text which is something I do a lot, open the file manager, select a grid setting directly, etc. Ableton says they do look at these things, mostly, so I'll keep adding to this thread as I think of stuff.

Re: Can I Make One Track Always Armed, Others Armed Exclusive?

I don't think there's a way to do that automatically. However, you can have the track stay armed when Exclusive is enabled in preferences and arm/de-arm other tracks by holding down the CTRL key.

Stretch selected notes in time most likely.

Re: Custom Key Commands and more of them

Using black version of this one. https://www.amazon.ca/Koolertron-Mechanical-Keyboard-One-Handed-Programmable/dp/B07RR9CMTQ?th=1 Not too difficult to figure out. Note that you need to upload both the key map and the macros to the keypad before macros assigned to keys will work. And you need to split...

Merge MIDI clips into Piano Roll to add scales, chords, riffs, etc.

As it stands now, you can drag clips to the arranger to add various MIDI musical elements to a track. However, you can't merge these elements into existing material. It's strictly replace. I can understand why from a performance/arrangement perspective, so, barring matching the behavior to the overd...

Custom Key Commands and more of them

Yes, I know this is an old one, but every once in a while... This is not a difficult thing to do, and it would accommodate non-performance workflows more readily. Live's key command usage is quite clever, but it doesn't suit everyone to a tee. In my particular case I'm generally playing an instrumen...

It may be a particular plugin, but there’s no true solution. You can delay the inevitable a bit with https://www.crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control. Just be careful.

Re: Polyrythms running tracks simultaneously at different tempos

You can simulate this in various ways if you can’t simply play it in. By recording at different tempos, or using the stretch markers inside a clip.

Re: In Need of Excellent tutorial for Brand New Ableton user

Yeah, the key commands are super important. Live is really fast as a two-handed computer keyboard/mouse combination deal. You can still right-click for context menus, but it's a lot slower.
