hi folks!

i own an bcf2000 ...
i need 2 of 4 buttons in the lower right corner to be able to navigate scenes in session view...

as described in other topics, i tested two different methods...

in live's preferences i enabled "track" & "remote"
on the in and out-ports of the midi devices.

it's about a month since live 5 was released.
since this initial release live 5 suffers from fundamental bugs.
at least from my point of view.

- send envelopes are not copied on clip level in session view.
- live5 crashes randomly when switching to/back from an external wave-editor ...

this is what i'm doing ...

- starting live
- open live set
- selecting clip
- open sample via "Edit"-button
- edit sample/sometimes closing sample doing a batch job in wavelab
- when job done in wavelab switching back to live with "alt + tab"
- live's gui staying grey > freeze

the behaviour appears just on one set - my main set; using around 800 samples.
i use wavelab5 as external editor assigned to the onboard audiocard (an ac97).
live5 is assigned to mona laptop audiocard.
i use mainly live plugs. just in the main out i use some waves plugs (linearMB, L2)

i'm also experiencing periodically freezing of the application
with simple operations which worked fine in L4.
e.g. switching to an external sample editor and back to L5 ... often resulting in freezes . i waited almost half an hour for the app to stabilize to no avail.
beside this live5 is not ...

i'm experiencing the same problem here (with L5) ...
a fix is highly appreciated ...

i also suffer from this bug. as of now i'm working on a huge set wanting to change the send envelopes of almost every clip in session view.

and instead of being able to copy i have to "manually" adjust ...

could you tell us an approx. timeframe when this will be fixed?

i encountered a small problem...

i adjust a clip envelope - lets say - mixer>send A; value 90%
i copy this clip to a free slot in the same track.
... all envelope setting are not copied or they were reset ...

am i missing something?
am i doing a mistake here?

deleted preferences & added ram.
all problems are gone!

live5 runs very fast ...

my guess:
if your machine is starting to swap physical memory
(which contains samples or sampeldata) to the hd
it produces glitches and dropouts while reading the swapfile
... 'cause ...

i also deleted my prefs...
it just slightly improved performance but the problem basically still remains.

are l4 & l5 installed on the same machine conflicting regarding this point?

any official input???

aah i'm somehow happy that i'm not the only one facing these problems..
don't get me wrong ...

in L4 i never had comparable problems. as mentioned i was operating sharp at the "diskstream-limit" of my machine... but never had any dropouts.

in L5 same set - no go ...

yes. i fine tuned almost everything you can fine tune.
got a couple of years experience with such things...

i think its not a prob of my machine - live4 runs fine -
as well as cubase sx3...

the problems arose with installation/operation of live5.
even the gui is ...
