1. 4-core systems have the same or better results than 8-core
2. about 20% CPU load on 4 or 8 cores with this easy test - some samples and 16 reverbs is definitely TOO MUCH!!!

the thing is, ableton displays the most loaded core of all available, so it can easily be like one core running at 20 ...

2 years later, 64 bit m-audio drivers are still BETA
they work, though.
at least for my delta 66 and xp x64.
but it seems like quitting the beta stage in driver programming is harder than inventing new hardware
