this is great - after I quit my band, I nuked my windows install and have been running OpenSuSE on it since. I've been starting to use the Linux based Audio/midi apps, but none of them really compare to Live. It'd be great to be able to use it again.

if the toneport responds to midi CC#, all you have to do is place a blank measure in the clip space (or in the sequencer view) inside a midi track that has the proper out port/channel set for that device. Then double click on the clip and set the MSB/LSB and program# information.

If you have the pattern view laid out the way you want, you can just press CTRL+A to select all the clips, then drag them to the arrange window. They'll retain the same spacial relationships.

how would that handle if, say, I wanted to play pattern 1 four times, pattern 2 one time, back to pattern ...

so you don't have to arm any of the tracks?

Wow. So simple. I can't believe I never figured that out.

So I'm assuming that once you do that, it'll either do pattern or linear, depending on which view you have?

Arrange patterns to linear sequence

Hi, I'm sure this is probably something pretty newbie, but I just can't figure this one out. I've been using Live for more than 2 years now (using v5 now BTW) with my band, but I've always used the Sequencer view to arrange tracks and sequences. It's worked pretty well, but I knew there was a whole ...

my new condensed Live setup

It's been a while since I've posted here and I wanted to get back into the fold. I'm no longer the primary keyboardist in my band (since I've moved over to drums), but I still do a bit with keys and trigger samples, sequences, and loops live from that and my Roland pads. I've also upgraded to Live 5 ...

I've searched KVR and can't seem to find anything. There has to be something like this geared towards tablet/touchscreen users

VST (or other virtual) transport controls? (for touchscreen)

I have a Panasonic Toughbook with a touchscreen that I'm going to start using instead of my HP to gig with. Also, at the same time, I've moved from keyboard to drums in my band. I'm using live to trigger sequences, samples, and other things, controlled by a Roland SPD-20.

Problem is that I'm ...

default session

this is probably a pretty dumb question, but I'm using Live 4 (windows XP) and sometime in the past (when I was learning how to use Live), I somehow overwrote the default "blank" live session that loads whenever you launch Live for the first time. It loads with a couple samples and some basic things ...

I'm using a FW410 with an HP Athlon 64 3000+ laptop w/ a 4 pin firewire cable (actually it's a special cable bundle I made w/ a usb cable going into the usb port right next to it, that way I can keep all of my devices in my rack connected with one cable bundle). I haven't had one problem with my ...

Get a computer interface with 8 inputs (the best deal around these days is a Presonus Firepod) that way you can record drums bass and guitar at the same time.

When you record into the computer the waveforms don't need to be super fat, give yourself a good bit of headroom to avoid clipping and ...

what about doing it the other way around and sending a clock signal from Live to the drumkat (set that up to receive external clock).... Then have him just map one of his controller pads to start the playback in Live
