i have many vintage midi devices linked to my interface via a midi router.
to prevent midi loops and extra midi info coming from drum machines and synths that i can't turn off, i usually disable track input when i want output and vice versa.
the problem i've had over multiple releases of ableton ...

i have ableton 12 suite, there's a bundled version of max in it. i want to upgrade to max 9 which i know i can do as a separate download and then pick the max path in settings, but the download page says i can only run it as a demo for 30 days.
Do i have to pay for max 9 as an unbundled option even ...

here is my problem.
i run ableton off the grid to prevent my music laptop accidentally doing any software updates that might screw up a recording session.
i'm currently on 11.3.21. 11.3.22 is available and ableton tries to do auto update, but it fails as i'm not connected to the internet ...

i'm also seeing this.
what i see in win task manager is the indexer going bananas.
My guess is that after you've done a bit of recording or consolidating of clips, the ableton indexer runs and is in the same execution class as ableton itself. it should run as a lower priority task so it gets less ...

is this on the wishlist or is there a way to do this i don't know. i currently have v11 but i've only just upgraded from v10 so may not know all the new functions yet.
As an example, i have a track with 24 audio and 6 midi tracks.
if i render audio stems to send to another band member using cubase ...

I can't be the only one who has had this in multiple vsns of ableton, currently running V11.

i use hardware synths with two motu midi routers and a behringer umc audio/midi interface.

due to certain quirks with the motu's and the vintage synths i have, i have to turn off midi track and sync in/out ...

i have written a bunch of max4live controllers for various synths i use over the past 4 years, using bundled max4live 8.1.1 that came with ableton 10.1.43.

When i'm editing a device in max it usually crashes if i try to change more than a couple of ...

i come from the analog world so i have to work with ableton in arrangement view.

If i name a track prior to recording, all the audio sections in the track have that name.
If i dup the track and rename the track the audio sections still contain the old name.

example. i've recorded a snare/sidestick ...

I'm getting to grips with ableton and have done some recordings straight to it, now i want to dump old cassettes mutlitracks in, that are quantized for future editing, or clip insertion.

Let me explain my process.
i have two types of songs
1 - 4 tracks of audio inc drum machine
2 - 3 tracks ...

Before anybody shouts at me i'm a beginner, and this is all new.
so i created 2 songs using live lite v6 about a year ago.
in the meantime i upgraded to live lite v8.
i decided to go back and rework my songs (this is all a learning process)

my problem is that the audio samples i dropped in are ...

why is it after 8 hours of trying to do something, you work it out 5 mins after posting on a bulletin board

I'm brand new to this laptop recording thing. i have some samples in wav format i want to import into live (5 to 45 second loops), so i can drop them into an arrangement. but i can't work out how to do it after reading the manual. can some kind person point me in the right direction. i see stuff ...
