Ableton Live on NetBook - is it usable?
Hey is anyone running Ableton on a Windows Netbook? - was considering getting some little netbook to use for gigs.
I don't use a lot of tracks or effects. As its mostly loop playback of songs i've already fully written.
What OS do those NetBooks generally use? I can't imagine they would run Win ...

Re: Is it better to mixdown using mono tracks ?
Always, always, always, THINK in mono.
There's no such thing as a stereo track, it's just a pair of related mono tracks.
If your source is stereo, like a stereo synthesizer, then record two mono tracks from it. If your source is mono, like a simple sample, then record one mono track from that. If ...

Re: Program Change to control Audio Effects?
I want to turn off the effect using a Program Change when I trigger a Scene. I am using a footpedal to trigger the scene while I play guitar and hence cannot manually turn it off / on I want to do it 'remotely'

Re: Making samples more alive!
I use Battery for Drums and often set up the BiPolar and Unipolar Random Generators to send a little bit of randomness to any of:
- Pitch (but less than 1 tone, you don't really want to 'hear' the pitch variations. like 1% variation)
- Pan position. not a lot you just want 1-5 degrees variation ...

Re: How to change midi map for each scene? Playing live
do you mean you have a bunch of say 1 shot clips loaded and you use different keys to trigger the 1 shot clips. (each clip being a whole Chord?)
so you have a midi key mapped directly to a 'clip'? so say C#4 plays Clip X on track 4?
Can you instead set it up so that C#4 plays the 'current' clip ...

Re: Is it better to mixdown using mono tracks ?
if all your stuff is mono and panned acordingly it should sound a bit clearer than normal but, your probably using some stereo effects so it doesnt really matter
um this is actually bullshit. If you use Stereo Tracks instead of Mono then you should be able to Squeeze More into a mix without ...

Program Change to control Audio Effects?
Hey, So I'm setting up to Sample Loop some Guitar Input and I was thinking it would be useful to Automate the Effects. (mainly to add a say a tempo Synced Delay on some scenes and not others.)
I have only one Guitar Track that is used in All Scenes. (as I never need to sample more than 1 part.

Re: Using Empty Midi Clips to Send Program Change Messages?
Ok I worked out the Problem.
I had the clips on a Track that was set to Midi Monitor 'Iiput'. so that I could play my keyboard 'thru' Ableton to the Synth. But then the Clips on that track don't get sent to Midi out.
So instead I added a new Midi Track which will just be used for PrgChange sends ...

Re: Is it better to mixdown using mono tracks ?
um so you want to MONO-ify your stereo pair and then pan that new Mono-ified version to a fixed spot?
well that sort of defeats the prupose of Stereo as you now have exactly the same signal going to left and right (but at different volumes) . That is you have lost any stereo width you had in the ...

Using Empty Midi Clips to Send Program Change Messages?
Hi,
Trying to setup a Live System using sets of Scenes for different Songs. I've got an external Synth connected well and all that and I can play the Synth 'thru' a track using the Midi Monitor.
Now The problem is I want to auto Change the Patch I'm playing when I jump to a new Scene. So i set up ...
