Can I use Novation X-Station as MIDI controller with Live 9?

I'm using older mac 10.5.8 OS with Live 9.1.1. Live will recognize & support X-Station as audio interface but does not show it as an option for use as MIDI controller. Any way I can make this work?

Upgrade Question for Live Suite 8 With Max For Live Owners

I have Live 8 Suite with Max for Live already. Will I miss out on anything important by just upgrading to Live 9 Standard, since in essence I already have the "Suite" portion of Live 9 Suite. (i.e.-Max for Live and all of the instruments?) How would this affect upgrade path going forward as well? (i...

Re: Samplitude user disses Live as 'shit for mixing in' at GS

People have always been bummed when some new technology comes around and makes it much easier to effortlessly duplicate what took them countless hours to master earlier. This is especially true when they view themselves as "masters of the genre" or "pros", because then they have something to lose. I...

Re: IMAGINE IF LIVE COULD FIRE VIDEO CLIPS FROM SESSION VIEW

I did a fairly tightly edited video using Ableton, and was also frustrated by the fact that you couldn't see the video clips in front of you as you triggered them in session. You can trigger them quickly in session just like music clips, but not being able to view them in real-time is what holds you...

Re: Family on social network sites

As soon as you realize that the Facebook "etiquette" is to basically friend everyone who asks who hasn't been stalking you or something, you realize that it's basically a place to put non-threatening stuff... UNLESS they make it so that you can easily control who sees what posts/pix EASILY. (i.e.--Y...

Re: Anybody have a faulty APC 40 yet?

Sorry to report that one of the track activation lights no longer lights up after only having the unit for two weeks with relatively light use....WTF? (Kind of defeats the purpose of keeping your nose out of the computer to check satus, eh?) Argh!--i'm hoping that's the only light that will be affec...

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions

What's up with Guitar Center being the only place that people are scoring this unit? I also walked with absolutely no hope into the local GC 2 weeks ago, planning on putting one on order, and they had one in stock.(!) And yes....it is a game changer--not because it necessarily does anything that you...

Re: APC40 Clip Track????? Creative manual editing from Ableton

Am I understanding your problem correctly? Do you want whichever clip you are currently playing to show in the clip view when you select it, so that if you do a lot of quick selection of different clips that it will show the current clip? I couldn't seem to get that to work with the apc 40 either, u...

Re: HELP!!--Ableton Not Receiving MIDI from Trigger Finger!

Wow--talk about a post coming back from the dead....anyways...the 2nd USB input on the macbook didn't help me. When I called customer service at M-Audio, I was told that "It was a known issue, and they were working on it.." That was years ago, and as you can probably imagine--it wasn't exactly on th...

Re: Live crashes when loading DJ set. Battery 3 problem?

I had similar problems with Battery 3 crashing live a while back. I was also given the advice by the Abes to get rid of Audio Hijack, but what did the trick for me was to move the Battery 3 cache file into the trash. Once I did that, the problem was sorted. The problem did come back once or twice ov...

This is a really good idea actually. The Zebra 2 synth has an add-on called Transmission which contains a boatload of tempo-synched patterns in different shapes and sizes that you can use in the synth's user-definable enveolope generator. It definitely makes working with this kind of stuff A LOT qui...

The new EIC 2 that comes with the boxed version of Live 7 has "LE" ("lite") versions of all of the instruments, including one of the Session Drums kits. I basically uninstalled all of the space-hogging old EIC presets I had and put only the LE versions onto my laptop. The full versions of everything...

No one? I'll take a "RTFM--page _____" if I've missed something, and I know this is basic for most with lots of sample libraries. I have an intentionally minimal setup, and I've just been able to get by with most of my samples on my laptop up till this point, and haven't run into this situation befo...

Basic Question--Run Session Drums from External HD

This is basic---but...Since it appears that all of the Session Drums/kits/samples etc. are loaded into Live Packs---how do I load these ONLY onto the external HD so that they are available w/o having to use my HD space on my laptop? (I've got all of the Session Drums material already loaded onto the...

Great thread. 1. I agree totally with " Separate the creative stage from the mixdown stage as much as possible" --this is crucial to getting any tracks done. People will come back to a lofi sounding solid tune, but a "great sounding" crap tune is a waste. 2. Look at each session as a new track-- eve...
