thanks that seems good but seems to jump in quite complexly initially assuming you already know all the stuff like what attack already is and how it effects a sound, etc.

can anyone give me a good list of VST/AU that a beginner should start with, that i can explore some initial synth programming but aren't too overwhelming and confusing for someone just starting.

and any other plug ins people suggest for a beginner to start playing with to explore the ...

are there any good resources online or printed that would help someone with no prior synth knowledge to sit down to a synth physical or in ableton, and understand how to manipulate all the knobs and know what they do. basically a beginners intro to all the LFO, SUSTAIN / ATTACK / DELAY, etc that you ...

this could be a really dumb question, but if i record say a 1 bar midi sequence that i loop at 130 bpm. how do i keep my bpm but increase the speed of the sequence much like you could on sequencing synths. thanks!

i have an m-audio keystation unfortunately it doesn't have any "knobs."

what midi controller do people recommend?

not just the most expensive ones, but also some mid/cheap options too.

hello all,

i have a firebox and mac g5 into ableton live 5.
i know there are lots of discussions in regards to when recording vocals/audio via microphone, on these that the input is very low, requiring it to be cranked and often causing distortion.

my question is, it seems as alot of people on ...

so should i not be worried if i turn down to reduce hiss, if the recorded file doesn't have as high of peaks/range as say a recorded guitar?

i'm attempting my first trials in recording vocals live into live 5 via a presonus firebox. i'm finding a substantial amount of "tape hiss" when i record, and have tried various microphones, all with similiar hiss.

how can i go about minimizing this without hurting the volume of the vocals?

i've read that i need to directly moniter my vocals/recording to get rid of the echo/delay. but i'm unsure of how to do this. i'm using live 5 still, and a presonus firebox on mac g5.

i don't really know that i can change rooms with my set up, and i don't know how to use 2 mics to record 1 sound.

are there any good tutorials anywhere that show a good basic intro to recording via microphone in live?
