In arrangement, show the tracks view at the bottom, click a header of a track then ctrl+shift+R will show/hide returns at the bottom

Welcome. For latency with lite "only while playing" I believe that the buffer size is your only way to minimize it. What buffer size do you use ? You can too check " latency compensation while monitoring" (afk, not sure of the exact name of this option)

@Ilest : as I said (and bing181 confirms) you dont have to use takelanes to have lots of take lanes in your set. You are wrong when you say : "I've never used take lanes. So, that's not the case."
Go in arrangement view, switch off "automation view", select all your tracks, and choose "show take ...

IMO takes lanes should only be recorded when we want to use the take composer tool...it's not the case. I never use this tool but when I work on a project, at the end there are hundreds and hundreds undesired take ...

Sometimes it can be the hidden "takes lanes" in arrangement view.
IMO I really think that that takes lanes should not be recorded automatically if you dont need them..
But it could be something else...

Hello, I don't have the CPU you mentione but I have an AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS( 8C/16T, 4.9GHz), 24GB DDR5 and Live runs really smooth !
And yes , it seems that the ratio performance core/efficient core is a crucial point to look at for the use of Ableton Live
