I have "Mackie Control" selected as my control surface in Live 7 (I'm using the BCF2000 in Mackie Control Emulation mode).

I have a BCF and have found that 4 me, it works best in Mackie Control Emulation mode. In the top section of Live's MIDI preferences page select "Mackie Control" as your control surface, and set the input/Output to BCF2000 port 1. You will have to restart the BCF by turning it off and back...

I have been wondering about the same thing. I came across this app for mac that converts a midi message into a keystroke:

I haven't tried it yet, and I don't know whether there is a PC equivalent.

Knocked out a problem I came across several times using External Instrument and dragging clips which led 2 a crash.

No time 2 save or anything. Live just went "poof".

Anyway, it works great now.
