The only one I know of for sure is Deckadance by the makers of fruity loops, Image-Line. It rewires, and I've heard great things about it. I use Virtual DJ - it's rock solid, and very easy to use. I plan on giving deckadance a try soon for the rewire capability.

My computer has been pretty rock solid as far as Live goes for a year and a half now... its a Toshiba satellite with 2gigs RAM, 1.6ghz core duo, 160 gig hard drive.

For Djing in a club/bar setting, do you think Live would be overkill and/or require too much preparation? Would something simple that can be used on the fly like Virtual DJ Pro be better?

I don't understand how it would be possible to not be able to compress 20 mb wav to 6 MB or so. I frequently render 50 MB wavs into mp3's at 320 kpbs using only the stock windows audio converter, and they end up around 8 MB.

Pocket POD is the same as the POD 2.0, which is outdated in my opinion. I would save up and get the X3 if you can.

For what it's worth, I still use my POD 2.0 all the time, and it still sounds great. But it's only because I haven't bought the X3 yet.

So after waiting 3+ weeks for Ableton to process my educational upgrade to the Live 7 Suite, I've become disgruntled enough that I have decided not to do it.

However, I'm in love with Live, and it is a program that I just can't do without so I'm still upgrading, but I think I'm just going to pay ...
